My husband and I are about to have our central air and heat replaced and I was wondering if any of you could offer up any of your experiences negative and positive. Also if any of you have Ruud, Lenoxx, Trane or Air-Flo systems and how well you like them or not. Anyone have any experiences with American Air and Heat, Perdue heat and air, or Metro Express Service and are willing to share your experinces with them, I would appricate it!

So What Happened?

We ended up going with Purdue heating and air, who installed a RUDD central air and heating unit. So far we LOVE it. Both the heat and air run so quietly that you don't realize that it is on, and our first electric bill since having it installed was significantly lower. The workers who installed the system were knowledgable, professional and good at what they do. Thanks to those that responded to the request, your advice and readiness to share your info was outstanding!!

Hi A..

We have two Lenoxx air conditioners. They were put in when our home was built in 2003. We have had problems with both of the systems. In fact, one of the air compressors went out in 2005. I would not recommend them at all.

I'm not sure where you live, but we always use Reliant Heating and Air ###-###-####. Anytime I've needed them to come service a part or check something out, they have been able to be there that day. Plus, the technicians they send out are really nice and knowledgeable too. Good luck!

I just had mine replaced by Steve Baser Air Conditioning. He was great. Very professional, prompt and had a good price. He put a Trane in our house and so far we have been very satisfied.
His numbers are ###-###-#### and ###-###-####.

Make sure the system you have is not underpowered. We were surprised to find out that our old system was too small for our home when we decided to replace it (No wonder out electric bills were so high! It was installed by the builder of the house in the 80's).
We upgraded to a more powerful and energy efficient system. We got a big discount because the model we bought was being discontinued (though parts, services, and warranty are still intact for the model). We ended up with a Trane. It's not whisper quiet (but it doesn’t scream either) There has been a definite drop in our bills since its installation.
Also an enormous crack appeared in our sheet rock, on the other side of the wall, around the indoor. The company that installed the AC repaired the wall quickly without complaint.
Here is the number for the installer we used.
Advent: ###-###-####
They also do service contracts. We have had a yearly contract with them since our new unit was installed four years ago.
They come three times a year to clean and check on everything.
I think the extra maintaince is well worth it. It keeps things running and clean so there is less of a chance of break downs.
