Hi,
I am looking into getting my daughter baptized within the next couple of months.
I want a catholic baptism,
but do not belong to a specific parish.
Some parishes require you to be a participating member for a minimum of 6 months,
I personally don't believe one should be required to do this just
because you want your child to be baptized in the eyes of the lord.
Does anyone recommend any particular catholic church in the fort lauderdale or miami area?
Can you share your experience with them, as to how complicated their requirements were and the fee's if any?

I looked into this last year and found issues at some churches because I got married outside and not by a priest. The best one I found as far as requirements was St Davids in Davie on University. I don't remember the pricing but it was very reasonable.
We baptized our son at St. Maximillian Kolbe in Pembroke Pines. When we went we were not members of the church and were not required to become members. This was 6y ago so the policy may have changed. We made a donation to the church but it was minimal. As for requirements, they were standard baptism classes that everyone has to take. Their number is ###-###-####.

Nine years ago I was in your delema too with my 1st born. Every place we went to was a long wait or there was a requirement of being a member. So I came across "Our Lady of the Lakes in Miami Lakes. They did not require anything except for a donation. I have the info here just call & find out. Things change & it was some time ago.

I went to the baptism class at St. David's in Davie this past Monday. You do need to be parish members (fill out a form in the church office) and then attend the class (first Monday of each month). There is no required cost if you do your baptism during the usual baptism on Sundays at 1:30pm. If you want a private baptism - just your baby and at another time - then they ask for a donation. St. David's does have the typical "parish boundaries" but the pastor there doesn't believe in boundaries and will accept members from any location. They will also help you validate your marriage within the church if you were not married in a Catholic Church.

We had our son baptized at Saint Anthony's in Fort Lauderdale. We did have to become members and make a small donation. My husband and I were so happy to have found this church. They are very understanding and are willing to help in any way. And you don't have to be member for months before having your child baptized. I had a very hard time finding a church to baptize my Son because I was married outside the Catholic church and my Husband is Jewish. Many churches we went to wanted my husband to convert to catholicism and after we needed to get remarried in a church. My church in Michigan would not marry us. I'm Middle Eastern...my church didn't like that I was marrying outside (Jewish). Saint Anthony's made everthing sooo easy and we for once were able to feel like we can be a real couple and not be judge by the eye anymore. You do have to take one class for the baptism but it's no big deal. The Monsignor does the class and he makes it fun.
