Catering Ideas Downers Grove

Hey Ladies, I am working on a 40th anniversary celebration July 3rd for my in-laws. I am looking for ideas on local catering on a budget. If anyone has any advice on who they have used, or who not to use that would be great. I am familiar with Buona Beef, we used them for my son's baptism and were very pleased. The party is going to be about 60+ people and I would rather not have someone at the grill all day. I do have people and myself to do the cake, and appetizers, side dishes etc...

Thanks for your help!

Sweet Tomatoes (Butterfield and Highland) and Jimmy Johns are places that will do buffets or sandwich trays.

We've done catering from El Burrito Loco. I wouldn't think of this place to do catering but it was great. Very affordable and we think the food here is great. We got many compliments from our guests (including guests who live in the city). It may mean you need to have a mexican themed party. But check it out. We would definitely do it again.

If you are looking for A LOT of good food at a great price, call Villa Rosa Pizza in Chicago. They catered my son's 1st b-day party -we have a huge Italian family, so there were 75 people total. We just used them for my son's 2nd birthday-we had about 25 family members. We held my son's 1st b-day party in Addison, IL and his second b-day party in Wood Dale, so Villa Rosa does go all over. The delivery charge will vary. We ordered the buffet special package for his 1st birthday. They provide so much food, that I think we ordered food for about 50, and still had leftovers. For the 2nd birthday party, we ordered package #1 with green beans and provided our own salad. We ordered the minimum for 20 people & had leftovers. Again, both my husband & my own family are Italian & enjoyed the food from Villa Rosa. It's such a great value, I imagine I will use them again in the future. Here is a link to their website:

Hi T. - Our fundraising committee at my kids' school, Carol Stream Christian Academy, just finished choosing a caterer for about 200 adults and 75 kids for an upcoming event in May. After going through a lengthy process of researching and negotiating with different caterers and reviewing their references to find the best combination of price, quantity per person, variety of items, track record and overall willingness to accommodate any special requests and circumstances, we selected A Taste of Heaven Catering. Their proposal says Romeoville, but their contract says Winfield, so I'm not exactly sure where they are based. A close finalist was Le Divas of Chicago Catering. 3 of us had eaten A Taste of Heaven's caterering before and loved it, plus the owner, Toni Pickens, was happy to work within whatever our budget was and provide the greatest quantity of food and number of servers. She can cook anything you want. Her # is ###-###-####. She does not have a website, but she is a licensed caterer. Hussain Hill's number from Le Divas is ###-###-####. Their website is www.ledivas.com, they serve "fine AmeriCajun cuisine," and they are currently offering a discount of 30% off all events of 50 persons or more good until 5/30/10. I believe you only have to book by then, not actually have your event by then. Tell either one of them that L. from Carol Stream Christian Academy recommended them.

Hi T.! We are hosting a surprise 40th anniversary party for my P's in 2 weeks. We are using Marie's Catering in Willowbrook. We heard good things about them, and they are reasonable. I believe they do the food for Ashton Place. We are only having 20 adults. If you don't mind, can you share some other ideas you plan to do at their party? We have a video montage, some poems from relatives that can't make it, and we are playing a small version of the newlywed game.

There is a restaurant in downtown Westmont called Absolutely Delicious. The owner, John, catered our wedding and the food was SO good. The prices were very reasonable as well (almost 4 years ago, anyway!). We had about 180 people and he actually did grill the chicken right there, so it was fresh (we had an outdoor wedding). He had a variety of sauces to choose from - my favorite was the absolutely delicious sauce (brown sauce with mushrooms and pearl onions). Oh, now I want to go there and eat lol!
