Can a Dirty Razor Give You Pink Eye?

I get my brows done at a chinese nail shop. I noticed that the lady dont always use a new razor on everyone so I always go and buy my own. So while she was in the middle of doing my brows she says, "this razor no good", and she threw it away and got another one of her own. I dont know if it was new or not, and thinking back I should have asked. She uses babyoil when done. Almost immediately after she finished, my eye felt irritated. To make a long story short, my eyelid swole up really big and my eye turned pink and pulsy. Within 2 days that eye cleared up. But the infection went to the other eye! My eye was pink, pulsy and I had a terrible terrible headache right at the tempal near that eye. So painful that I went to the E.R. on new years day. They said the headache came from the pink eye. Could a dirty razor from the nail shop have given me the pink eye?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Yes ladies I am definitely not going back there anymore. I hate that this happened because I love the way that she do my brows. She do them quickly, very nicely and the price is reasonable. But it's not worth it. I guess I'll be back to the long wait time at the mall to get my brows done and I'm reporting this nail shop!

I've always known pink eye to come from nose mucus or bacteria that enters the eye. Was she wearing gloves? Did she have a runny nose? If she rubbed her dirty nose and then touched your eye area and bacteria entered your eye, that would do it. Did you have a runny nose by chance?

The thought of getting an eye infection from someone else makes me cringe! I would go somewhere else.

If the woman who does your eyebrows knows little about cleanliness and health find another salon. People have had serious foot infections from pedicures, skin irritation and outbreaks from unsanitary waxing techniques.

You have only one set of eyes and you need them for your entire lifetime. Pink eye that is severe can ruin your sight.

I don't know if a dirty razor can give you pink eye, but I do know for a fact it can give you MRSA. That being said it sounds as if it could be the unclean practices in this nail shop that caused it...you may want to have your brows done elsewhere.

I think you need to find a new place.

An unclean salon is not worth the money you pay to go and risk your health.

You'll be lucky if iit is JUST pink eye.

Um pink eye is EXTREMELY contagious (sp) and yeah you could have simply gotten it from her hands or other tool contact. You seriously need to go somewhere else and report this place. I LOVE the experience with the Benefit Brow Bar at my local Ulta ... a bit more expensive but WORTH every penny. I love that they will "draw" out the expected shape for your approval BEFORE touching your brows and they also use the most sensetive wax I have everr had used on me before (really sensetive to waxing). You for sure need to find a cleaner place weather you try another local place or something like a Benefit Brow Bar the choice is yours.

Germs getting in your eye can give you pink eye. Yes, a dirty razor could give you pink eye. So could touching a germy surface with your hand and then touching your eyes. There is no way to prove that the razor was dirty or that is what gave you the pink eye.

I get pink eye every so often just from rubbing my itchy eyes with not so clean fingers.
