Suggestions on Doing Own Eyebrows...?

Seeking suggestions or advice on sculpting/grooming own eyebrows...was just curious if anyone out there did their own and how they went about doing it. Currently a stay at home mom of a 10 month old and 36 days away from having his little brother. Got no time to get to a salon some where to get them professionally done. Usually I would get them done and then just do maintenance plucking, but they are too far gone for that.
:( Thanks in advance.

Hi K. ... I am a Licensed Cosemtologist and have been for several years. I am a Independent Contractor so my schedule varys day to day. I am new to the Kemp area so I am not in a salon at this time. Just to give you another option, I do travel for my clients. I could come to you and show you how to arch them and then you can either maintain them or I can come back whenever you need them done again. I can use wax or tweezers or both. If you are interested let me know. If you need referrals from any of my clients I will gladly give you some names and numbers. ____@____.com

I sell avon and we have an eyebrow stencil kit for $4.99. I have had several clients order it and they seem to like it. It comes with 4 different stencils and a double-sided eyebrow brush and case. The different stencils are for med arch, petite arch, slim high arch and high arch.

If it works for you, it would be a one-time expense. Let me know if you are interested. You can look at my online site too--- www.youravon.com/jozuna

Thanks,

J.

Just pluck them...don't try anything else...it may take a little time but it's the best way to assure that you're shaping them right. If there is alot..don't do it in one try. Always pluck from bottom, NEVER pluck on top...don't pluck the end of the brow to look shorter...a brow should extend long over the eye, don't shorten. If you're unsure, never overpluck. I've plucked my whole life...it saves time & money...once you get a hang of it, you'll probably like it, too. congrats on new baby!

At Wal-mart they have shapers that look kinda like stickers that really help. I also got a trimmer with my razor that works wonderfully. I just draw a line straight up from the inside of the eyes and trim anything on the inside of them. Draw a line slanted outward from the outside corner of the eye trimming everything below it. The trimmer comes with a gaurd so you can trim the brow it self without cutting it all off by accadent. You can also use an eyebrow comb if you dont have the trimmer gaurd.
I have found the shapers at Wal-mart work alot better tho.

K. - I have always done my own eyebrows and how I started is I looked in magazines of people who's eyebrows I liked and looked to see if my basic shape could be sculpted like theirs. I copied Cindy Crawford. I went SLOWLY and you have to stand at least a foot away from a mirror and just keep glancing back at the picture and then to your brows and tweeze only 1 hair at a time. I suggest you get a Tweezerman tweezer wtih the pointed tip.

Also, you can do a google search. There are a LOT of websites out there and videos on youtube for beauty tips and stuff.

I have always plucked my own, and I HAVE to pluck the top or I'd look like a caveman. I think the wisdom that says not to do that came about because when you pluck you take a "little here" and a "little there", and before you know it you're a big, uneven mess. The best way to start, though, is to definitely only do the bottom. When my sister and I would get someone to start plucking, we both had the same approach. You get a big ol' dark eye liner and start playing with shape. Just draw on the eyebrows you want, or think you want, and then judge. (Men are bad critics because they keep focusing on how stupid you look while experimenting.) DON'T make high arches! In fact, one of the best tricks is to just color in the main part of your eyebrow, tapering the end if it doesn't already taper. This shape will typically be the easiest to maintain anyway. Once you have them colored in evenly, then pluck from the bottom up to the line you drew. Make sure you are paying attention to the root of the hair, and not accidentally plucking hang-overs. (Although you know that, since you did your own maintenance for so long.) What you've gotta remember is that we've ALL had a bad wax job at some point, so if you over-do it, don't worry too much because you could have paid someone to do the exact same thing.

I wax my own eyebrows & its very easy! They have wax & application sticks (popcicle sticks) in a "kit" & the first time i bought the kit it came with strips of linen but i just went to the fabric store & bought a strip of material & cut it into 1'' by about 4 inches (its cheaper than buying already packaged & cut strips) It takes me about 7 minutes to do my lip & eyebrow. They have the kits at most beauty stores like sally's or Ulta. You just microwave the tub of wax for however long it says. If you already have your "base eyebrow" then spread a thin layer of wax on & stick on the strip, rub & rip! Not hard at all! I actually started doing that when i was big pregnant since i couldn't climb up on the counter anymore! Good luck!

I use the Nads facial wand. It's easy,no heating and pretty painless. You can get it at Wal-mart. I even do my teenage daughters eyebrows with it.

Hi K.. When plucking your eyebrows, use a color pencil as a guide.

1) Hold the pencil upright along the side of the nose. The brow should begin at the line where the pencil intersects the inner corner of the eye.

2) Angle the pencil from the tip of the nose to the middle of the iris. The brow should arch highest at the point where the pencil crosses the brow.

3) Angle the pencil so it touches the outer edge of the nostril and intersects with the outer corner of the eye. This is where the eyebrow should end.

You can watch a short video at my ____@____.com/jessicawade. No purchase is necessary. Just go to that website and then click on application tips. Good luck.

K. I just started doing my own eyebrows also, and I was scared because I didn't want to look like I was always scared. LOL. Anyway, I went to Sallys and bought this prodect called tweeze-free. It suppose to go on warm/hot and then pull off with out anything else but I also got the muslin strips to help me, and it works great. I've done it three times and finally got it to where it doesn't hurt at all. It is not expensive at all, actually, it is cheaper than getting it done once at the salon.

There is a thing in Avon magazine that helps you sculpt your own eyebrows. Ive used it and it works great when you dont have the money to go to a salon or just dont have the time.

Sally Hansen has these eyebrow waxing strips that I have used before and had pretty good luck with. You can at least get the shape you want and then touch up with the tweezers.
