Ok all you creative mammas out there, I need help with a business name. I create custom invitations/announcements/cards for family and friends. I am toying with the idea of expanding this "hobby" into a business, but I am really stuck on a name.

One suggestion I am toying with is Set the Stage. The idea here is that the invitation really sets the stage for the event. But one friend thought it sounded to formal as most of my work is more for birthdays, babies, and holiday cards. I tend to like the name Set the Stage, but also think it sounds a bit more formal (weddings, etc) than I intend people to think of...

Any thoughts on this or other suggestions for names?

What can I do next?

I think Set the Stage sounds good. You can lighten it up by adding ballons and some less formal graphics to your logo... maybe even use a more casual font.

My dad runs an event center and we have lots of people looking for invitations and such. If you do decide to take your hobby send me your info and some picture samples and I will add you to our vender list.

Good luck

Yeah, although Set the Stage is a good name (and a great business idea)....I think it would be too formal sounding for what your products really are. Not only does it sound formal, it sounds like maybe you would be a DJ business or maybe some sort of event planning business. It's important to have a catchy name but the name really needs to "scream" what your products are so that you can instantly hook a consumer's interest. Google other card businesses to get your creative juices flowing...without duplicating of course. Good luck!

I helped my husband work on his company name and can tell you, unless you want a big headache, stay away from common names (Creative Cards, etc.). I would go with something that's not likely to be owned by another company -- for example, Clara's Custom Cards or Cards by Marie. Search Google and Etsy on any name you come up with to make your best effort not to get caught up in any copyright issues. Using your name may be the way to go.

"Let's Get It Started"

Best Wishes!
