Breast Implants and Breastfeeding.

My mom had breast implants and breastfed 4 kids after them.

From the research I have done, breastfeeding after implants is no problem, unless they had a lift or something that removed the nipples or the milk glands.
For example, those who have had a breast reduction typically have issues or cannot BF due to tissue removed, but if a simple implant, she should be OK.
Again, just research, no first hand knowledge.

I was a peer counselor and went to a training where the lady spoke about this. It'll depend on the placement of the implants and how long it's been since they were placed. Different placements disrupt more/less/different milk ducts BUT over time they will heal/reroute themselves.

What it all boiled down to was women with breast implants should nurse, BUT they should be sure to count wet diapers (if it's coming out, you know it's going in!)

I had NO PROBLEMS. I produced more after than I did before the implants! I had mine done after my daughter was born, but LONG before I got pg with my son.

Mine are under the muscle and they went through my areola.

ETA- They didn't cut my areola completely off, but that was still the incision site. My surgeon even fixed the "fisheye" appearance I had too. ☺

One of my friends breastfed 2 kids for a year each after implants with no problem. She is actually a board certified lactation consultant now!

As long as the nipple was not sliced and removed she should be ok with breastfeeding... Getting the implants behind the muscle wall is the optimal way for this augmentation and to continue breastfeeding.

It is breast reduction that has major issues with breastfeeding.
