Black or White Shoes with Shorts?

My son is starting school in 2 weeks and will wear uniforms. I got him nice dress shoes for when he wears pants but I thought he might look silly wearing dress shoes with shorts. They are allowed to wear tenis shoes but must be all black or all white including stitching and laces. So, which color would you buy for shorts.... (I guess he could wear them with pants too) black or white?

Thanks!

So What Happened?

He will be 6 and they are khaki shorts with a white or dark navy blue polo top.

We went to the store and I let him pick. He chose black. Thanks Moms!

Black will be easier for a 6 year old to keep looking black than white will be for him to keep looking white.

Consider how fast his feet grow. If he'll still be in the same shoes when it starts to cool off and/or get rainy, white might be a little silly, but if his feet grow quickly and you'll be getting new ones anyway, get white for summer and black for winter.

I think white sneakers will look better - but if he's an active boy who gets filthy by the end of every day think about the black sneakers. I used to always buy white for my son - but as he got older I changed over to darker colors. Really it won't matter at all becuase he'll look adorable no matter what. :o) I pray this will be the biggest thing you'll have to concern yourself with this school year!

I'm partial to white for me but my son has both.

Depends on the age/activity/messiness of the kid.

I think either will go with Kakhis. and black will hold up better.

Our school doesn't allow tennis shoes so my kids have to wear the dress shoes with the shorts. Then to top off the look they wear white socks. Lol. So I guess I would vote for the dress shoes or black tennis shoes. White would get so dingy!

White may look better, but trust me, I've done both with my four children, and white is sooooooooooo much harder to keep clean, as a matter of fact it was awful to keep clean, so I would opt for the black, just for a matter of practicality. They look so cute when they're first going to school and all, but when the newness wears off and all, you will be glad for black!
