Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for birthday ideas for my little lady, she has been talking about her birthday since September(so I want to make it memorable). As of now I'm thinking about Build-a-Bear Workshop. I'm also not sure about the total amount of guest, however I will be inviting her whole class which consist of 15 children as well as her two teachers. Any and all advice is welcomed and very much appreciated. Have a wonderful day=)
My baby's first bday is May 19!
Build a Bear is verrrrry expensive! I think Im just going to have a big bbq at the house and invite everyone and, I personally own a huge inflatable bouce house so Im going to do that for all the kiddos. You can rent them as well.
My SIL just had a birthday party for her 5 year old that my 4 year old LOVED. We took the kids roller skating for a couple hours, came home and had pizza, and then had a dance party in their great room. She had the place decorated, a disco ball with lights (bought off of CL from another mom who had done the same thing), big mirrors (not sure where she got them), fun kid appropriate dance music. We gave them glow sticks to make bracelets and necklaces. The girls were dressed in their frilly tulle skirts and dresses, allowed to put on a little bit of make-up and were given valentine flutes to drink out of. They looked like they were at the prom. My daughter loved to take her flute glass and fill up water from the refrigerator. My SIL had made cupcakes and put those on a tiered holder. It was a lot of fun. Even caught my dad who doesn't dance caught up in it.
The nice part of May is that the weather is kind of nice, so you can also plan for something outside.
And as a side note, I wouldn't invite the teachers. It will be the end of school as it is and the kids will have a hard time not wanting to ask their teachers to do things for them. They need the day off. :)
Bulid a bear forthat many kids is super expensive! With that you could rent a party room or spend it on throw and actial party with decoratipns and goodie bags and activities. I like answer below about the dance party and it looking like prom lol :) very creative. Find what you thik your daighter would enjoy and would love tp share woth her friends. All in all you can bet it will be lots of fun and you will build memories :) good lck

We mostly do at-home parties or we go to the local Chuck E Cheese equivalent. In May you could rent a pavilion at a park where the kids can play. I wouldn't invite teachers. Just the kids. And expect the parents to come, too, at least some of them. A barbecue would be a good way to feed a lot of people but not worry about a per-head cost. You can get simple games off Oriental Trading (what my cousin did for her 5 yr old). Kids also like pinatas. If a local nature center has a room to rent, that might be interesting. Locally we have a place that has a mini train and everyone gets a ride.
Build-A-Bear for the whole class would be over $400. That's with the basic party and no real accessories.

- Chuck E Cheese - going on a week night is less $$ and less noise!
I'm actually planning a build a bear party for my little man who will be 4 on May 2, 2012! I looked at the pricing, and it depends on animal choices you select. I decided to go with the 10 - 15 dollar range (it gives them approx. 6 animals to choose from, and at that age, they don't need many choices). Our build a bear is in the mall, so after they build their bears, we are going to go to the food court for cake (cupcakes) and ice cream (single serving cups) and a ride on the carousel.
Edited to add - I have done a party at home for his first birthday, Chuck E Cheese for his second, and Monkey Joes (a bounce house type place) for his third.
We don't do outside parties because the weather is so unpredictable - I have had it SNOW on my birthday (May 20th), and for my little guys second birthday, all of middle TN was flooded!! (Google TN may 2 2010 flood!)
This one seems to be the least expensive so far!
My daughters birthday is also in May! We are planning to go to the Community Children's Theatre for dinner and a play

How about you go to a "Pump it Up" Style place if you have to do something along these lines. I do not understand what is wrong with a party at home with a bounce house rental and a bbq.
build a bear will be really expensive.. We have done twice for each of my girls at 4 and 5 a pony party.. Kids ride ponies, bring cake and pizza.. They had a bouncy house at the pony party place and we did a game. Super fun and the parents enjoyed chatting and watching the kids. Google pony parties in your area. If intrestood.
