My sister threw a party for her 4 year old son at Chick-Fillet. She made sure they had a play area for the kids. The stuff were great. They even dressed up as a cow. They didn't charge her for using part of the restaurant but the play area was shared with other kids too. She just had to buy food and drinks there.

There is also the Smith Playhouse in Fairmount Park. They do charge but there is plenty of room for activities and different places for the kids to play.

Have Fun.

A lot of kids hair salons do "princess parties" or salon parties or something. There is one kids salon called Wiggle Worms (Byberry, near Pine, I think), and I doubt its very expensive.

I am not one to book places to have parties. I love to throw theme parties of my own. We have done Mermaid, Tinkerbell, and Strawberry Shortcake. This past summer we did a Dora and Diego Animal Safari for my 3 year old and in November we did a Luau for my 6 year old. Oriental Trading is an awesome place to find good deals on so many things. If space is the issue I completely understand. I am not sure where you are located or if your daughter is into princesses (what girl isnt.) There is a great place in Haddonfield called Enchanted Dreams. My 6 year old has been there a couple of times. I would call to see what information you can get. If you want any advice on throwing a theme party, please ask. They are my favorite thing to do. I am actually helping a few of my friends throw them for their kids.

A friend of mine has had parties for her daughters at a craft store such as Michaels. It wasn't too expensive and was a lot of fun for the kids. A staff member does the craft with the kids, and you supply your own cake and plates and so forth, which also keeps the cost down.

try checking out some local firehouses. my son will be 1 in feb and we are having his first birthday party at a firehouse. it's not too expensive, you can have a lot of room for kids to run around, and you can decorate it the way you want it.
