Hi mommas,

I need some advice! My daughter will be turning 2 on Oct 19th, coming up so fast. She has always LOVED chuck e cheese so i reserved her party there. Today I took her there, we go like once a week and she can play for at least an hour. Turns out they got a bunch of new stuff and moved things around and she is now "scared" of the place, and just wants to sit on my lap and asks to leave. Should I still have her party there? I want to have it indoors, because I had a bad experience outdoors for her 1st birthday with rain, and heat and the cake melted! I just need an AFFORDABLE place. I would love play patch or gymboree but they are extremely pricey. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!

Ultimate Party Play Zone on 62nd Ave. N and I think around 16th St N. My friend had her daughters Bday there. It was really fun - I would suggest getting Pizza elsewhere or bringing other fod - their Pizza wasn't all that good. Other than the pizza - the rest was GREAT!

I would say no ... the last thing you want is to have her screaming during her whole birthday party ... how many people did you invite?

For my daughter's 2 bday we invited some kids over to the house, set up different 'stations' - table with playdough, building blocks, crayons and coloring books ... it worked well, was very cost effective and much less noisy than chuck e cheese

Good luck!

I would not have it at Chuck E Cheese if she is scared; it could turn into a huge meltdown.
Temple Terrace rec center has a wonderful gymnastics room where they allow parties to be held. The kids get to play on all the equipment, with the addition of kiddie equipment; supervised parachute time and 1 hour in a party room for cake and ice cream. They are really reasonable.
My son goes to tiny gym there and all the kids love it.

I would not if I were you. :)
My son is 2.5 years old and goes through phases like this also. He used to love Johnny and the Sprites on Disney and one day I turned it on and he started crying!! He said it was too scary. lol.
I like near Oldsmar and I think there are a few places around to for indoor parties. What about pump it up? Not sure of the pricing. There are also a few buidling around here that will allow you to make reservations. A few years ago I lived in West Park Village townhomes and they a guesthouse at the pool. Fully equipped kitchen, a play room across the hall. They also have a kiddie wading pool. Maybe you can look at something like that.

By the way, I am a WAHM also!! yay. :)

Hello J.,
Sometimes new places are intimidating for little kids...that happens to adults also...What I used to do with my daughter was just holding her in my arms if she wanted to and walk around the room pointing out tings to her untill she'd be ready to touch things that I would point out and by the end she would start smiling and ask me to let her down. That works like magic! That's a very fast and practical way to let kids have time to experience the new environment in the safety of moms'arm and when they are ready they decide to go...It's a great experience...and I believe we all need our own time!
Let me know how it worked for you and you daughter.

Co-worker of mine had a b-day party for her daughter at the Citrus Park mall play/food area. They have the kiddy tables, very nice play area, etc.. You can go early and decorate the place and reserve tables. It's very inexpensive (free), fun for the kids (they have the play area, carousel, you can do games, etc...), and it's indoors. Good luck :-)

Hi J.

I live in Safety Harbor and wanted to say "hi". I am also a single mama, but I have three children, ages 9, 6 and 2 1/2 years. If you ever want to get together, let me know. My older two are in school, but I have mornings to have playdates, etc. I do some part time work and go to school, but I have time to meet up sometimes.

Regarding your party, is it possible to have it in your home? I wouldn't do Chuck E. Cheese if she is fearful. I don't have a lot of suggestions for indoors, I usually do parties at my home since the little ones feel comfortable at home. I sometimes do outside, but it can get hot in Florida and it can also rain. If you can't do it at your home, do you have any friends or relatives' homes to have it? I have done that before as well.

Good luck, if you want to get together, email me: ____@____.com

There is a place off of Hillsborough Avenue called Rolly Polly. A 2 year old would love it. Go check it out. I am not sure of the price.
