Hi Moms.

My husband's birthday is in June and here comes Father's Day. The kids and I really want to do something special for him this year. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Go for an experience.
Think of something different OR that he likes to do.
-Take him on a sailboat cruise
-If he likes sports, take him to a sporting event like baseball game etc.
-Does he like beer, take him on a tour of a nearby brewery ending with
a nice lunch for all of you.
-Does he like golf? Treat him & 3 friends to a day of golf. You can end
the day with a wonderful dinner you share w/him & the kids.
-Put together a photo montage of you, him & the kids that you put together on your laptop or computer. Set it to music if you can.
-Take him on a weekend trip w/you & the kids to his favorite spot or the
mountains (renting a cabin) or the beach.
-If he likes wine, buy a case of his favorite wine, buying specialized personal wine labels w/your own message from kids to dad through the winery and making a fine dining experience at home cooking ALL of his
favorite foods. Wether that be steak, baked pototes & onion rings or Chicken Cordon Bleu etc.
-Pour a small square of concrete in the backyard w/each child's handprint (just one hand) then a personal message for him that you write into the concrete before it sets. It will be at your home for all of time to keep.
-Throw him a "For he's a jolly good fellow party" with all of HIS friends &
his fave foods!
-Choose a day filled with all of his favorite activities, experiences & food that you & the kids indulge him in. A great experience & fun for the whole family!

My husband's birthday is the week before father's day and my birthday is right around father's day. My later FIL's birthday was a few days' earlier than my husbands. We used to have many combined birthday / father's day BBQs.

As for what to do - can you find a way to have a special day together? Go out on a fishing boat together for the day? A sailboat excursion? A food-walking tour of San Francisco? What does you husband like to do? Biking, eating, baseball, hiking? Find a way to do a day activity but take it to the next level - if he loves camping find a "luxury" campground with cabins, rent a cabin, stock up on his favorite food (steak, shrimp, lobster?) and gril it with his favorite sides and spend an evening star gazing. If he plays softball get him batting lessons or an expensive new bat (they are VERY expensive!) or a family softball game (less costly).
Basically just take his favorite thing to the next level. Good luck mama!

What does he like, what is he into? My husband loves playing golf and watching sports, especially basketball, baseball and (surprise!) golf.
If he's into sports I would suggest tickets to a game, but if that's not within the budget how about getting a sitter and going out for the evening?
If you want to do something as a family head out to the beach, pack a picnic and a really nice bottle of wine :-)

My husband wants O. of those GPS watches for golf.
It will be a combined Fathers Day / birthday gift because **OUCH!** they are expensive!
