5 of my nieces and nephews are coming in town for Spring Break and we are looking for ideas of neat places to take them in the area. They range in age from 11 yrs to 15 yrs old. We are thinking about taking them on the Tarantula Train from Grapevine to Ft. Worth to watch the cattle drive. Anyone done this? Any other ideas?
THANKS!

I have an entire website dedicated to stuff to do in the DFW area - organized by date. If you'd like to join, you'll have full access to it 24/7. (it's free -- just a yahoo group)...

My son is 9 and my step daughter is 13. They both love to go to Main Event. They have bowling, arcade games and laser tag. It is a great place to let loose and not have to be afraid that the kids will disturb anyone.

Hey A.! :)

How about Six Flags? I think they just opened for the year. Also, I don't about your big kids, but our big kids love to go to laser tag at www.laserquest.com. And then there are the cool malls, like Stonebriar or Galleria!

Have fun! Maybe we'll get to hang out next week!

I agree with the previous response... Fossil Rim is great and, depending on your group size (sounds like at the very least 7...), they have group rates for the guided tour. We did than one year and it was great.

Ft Worth Museum of Science and History is a day's worth of fun. The Omni theater would be a blast for them. Check show times before you go. Movie tickets are in addition to museum admission.
In Dallas, the Science Place should be a blast.
The Ft Worth Zoo might be an option. They might also enjoy a picnic at the Ft Worth Botanic Gardens. Just make sure you bring a frisbee!
Also, a friend of mine came up with a great idea for her kids for Spring Break. She wrote down activities (the kids picked most of the activities) on strips of paper and put them in a hat. Every morning they drew an activity for the day. Some of the activities were "adventures" like the Omni theater. Other activities were closer to home, like a trip to Blockbuster for Movie Night.

Six Flags is typically open for Spring Break, so that's always an option.

Also, I highly recommend Fossil Rim (www.fossilrim.org). It's basically a zoo, but the animals aren't in cages - you are (except the cage is your car!). You can either drive your own car through, or for a little extra, get the guided tour. I highly recommend the tour, as you're in an open-air truck that really increases your viewing, the guides are really interesting, and perhaps best of all, your car is in no danger (I've heard stories of animals scratching car doors). You get to hand-feed the animals, and it's pretty amazing to have a giraffe's head in the truck with you! It's well worth the price. It's about an hour and a half outside of DFW, and would be great for any age.

We've ridden the train and thought it was fun. There's a maze that's fun to do and the kids might think going to Billy Bob's is fun. They have a mechanical bull and lots of memorabilia. Be sure to go into the lobby of the old hotel. They have pictures of how the stockyards used to look and more history. There's a rodeo pretty regularly. You could check that out, too.
