Best Cookware Set?? HELP!

Has anyone done any research on the best ("best" meaning long lasting and really non-stick as I am not the best cook-haha) set of non-stick cookware currently on the market? I was married a little over 6 years ago, and my husband and I registered for and received the Calphalon Contemporary Non-stick cookware set, and the non-stick stuff is now peeling off (so frustrating)!! I haven't abused these pots and pans at all, but I do use them on a daily basis! I have always washed them by hand and never use metal on the pans (per the user instructions from the manufacturer). This was a $500 set of cookware! I expected it to last MUCH longer than 6 years! Any suggestions or experiences with this and or other brands would be really appreciated!!!

What can I do next?

Another vote for All-Clad. I've had my set for 8 years and they still look brand new. They are stainless steel and are easily cleaned with Bar Keepers Friend on the inside and outside to keep them looking great. I do have one non-stick All-Clad pan that I use for eggs but all the rest are not non-stick and I do not have problems cooking. I do have a gas Viking range and tend to cook on high heat because I am impatient and I still don't have problems with food sticking. Well worth the money!

Revere Ware not non-stick but if used carefully it's great.

As far as your non-stick cookware goes, contact the manufacturer and see if it's still under warrenty. You may be able to get it replaced.

If the non-stick coating is peeling off --- STOP USING IT --- the non stick coating is a known health hazard.

I swear by All-Clad stainless. I have the top of the line version and I LOVE them. They still look brand new and I use them a lot. They are very pricey but you can get a deal with a department store like Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc that helps. I know 1 small saucepan when i started my collection was about $120 each... SO WORTH IT.

I also use a lot of Lodge cast iron. Once you get your piece seasoned nicely they are fantastic as well.

My mom swears by SaladMaster. She got her set when I was about 4 by having a party at her house. I am 50 and her set still looks brand new. On 2 occasions, something happened to the lid in the last 5 yrs and they replaced the entire pan and lid for her. It is pricier than All-Clad.

I do not use anything with the non-stick coating. That is asking for trouble later. My pans clean VERY easily and no worries of having to get new ones because they are peeling.

Good luck

I agree with Mom 2-2.

I have All Clad and it's absolutely fantastic. I have 1 non stick All Clad pan just for eggs If you are NOT the best cook, then stainless steel is the best for you.

Stay away from the Sears Kenmore Elite Non-stick pots/pans that claim to be dishwasher safe. My friend has Regalware and says they are awesome, plus they are made in the USA.

You should only be using non-stick for things like omelets. We have the Calphalon. You should expect to replace non-stick pans every 1-6 years, depending on the brand.

For anything requiring medium high heat or above, you need stainless. Cuisinart makes a set that is the "Best." This is what Chef's buy that cannot afford All-Clad. It is the same stuff, just hundreds upon hundreds cheaper ---I've cooked on both, and you cannot tell a difference.

I am replacing two non-stick pans this xmas. They are only 3 years old. You should just expect this.
