My baby is 2 mths old, what time does your baby get to bed at night and when is your last feeding? I feel like we're going backwards, she is still sleeping only 2-3 hrs at a time, any advice?

What can I do next?

I too laid my children on their tummies as infants and they slept soundly all night! My oldest,(5 now), was sleeping 7-8 hours at around 3 months of age while my youngest,(7 months), came home from the hospital sleeping 5 hours straight. She now sleeps 8-9 hours each night. She takes her last feeding at around 7:30pm. Lay him/her on their belly and give them a pacifier and you'll finally get some rest!

Maybe the baby needs to start on solid foods. I have already started my 2 month old on solid foods and he was doing the same thing. So now he usually only gets up once during the night which is around 3-5 in the morning. The other night he actually slept all through the night, till about 6 in the morning.

Around 2-1/2 months we started to give my son 2 tsp of cereal in a 4 oz bottle at bedtime (10:00'ish). The doctor recommended this as he had reflux and it would help the breastmilk/formula stay in his stomach. He did not get cereal at any other time. Within 3 days he slept until 5:00 AM. I would not expect a baby younger than this to sleep through the night. They need the food! While I agree with the person who warned against putting your baby on her stomach to sleep I do not agree with her advice that you sleep next to her. A bassinett next to the bed is sufficient.

I have a 3 1/2 month old and she takes her last bottle around 10 pm then sleeps until 4 am. But she ust started doing that, before she was waking up every few hours. It just depends on the little one. My son spoiled us, he is now 2 yrs old, he started sleeping thru the night (7 hours) the week before he turned one month old! So our daughter was a little harder to deal with but it gets better with time.

First off, DON"T start solid foods at 2 months! Babies who start solids earlier than recommended are more likely to have food allergies and their digestive tract is not mature enough to handle them. Second, this is very common at this age. In fact, it is not normal for a 2 month old to sleep through the night and more likely the baby would die of SIDS. What ever you do, don't listen to anyone who tells you to put your baby on her tummy. Yes, they will sleep longer, but it increases the risk that they won't ever wake up (SIDS).

I would suggest sleeping with your baby (if you are a non-smoker and do not sleep on a waterbed), and breastfeeding through the night on your side. If you are not breastfeeding, it may be a little more difficult, but babies will often sleep more soundly if next to mom. Despite the current recommendations in the US not to sleep with your baby, it is still safer than sleeping in a crib. Check out research by Dr James Mckenna.

If you are not comfortable with co-sleeping, put your baby close by in a basinet and offer a pacifier. The pacifier will enable that suck swallow breathe pattern that the baby would have while breastfeeding, and the baby will sleep better. If you are worried about baby getting attached, you can always take it away within a couple months or only offer it while sleeping.

I have a 6 month old and he started sleeping through the night around 10 weeks. He basically was fed every 3 hours even through the night before he started sleeping through. At the age of your baby bedtime was between 9 and 10 for my little one. I just followed his cues basically, he put himself on his own schedule, and I also don't believe in waking them in the middle of the night just to feed them, I let him wake on his own.

My son slept about three hours at a shot until he was about 3-1/2 mo. old. I think it's fairly normal at that age.
We did take the step of moving his bedtime up--and when he got a little older, that seemed to work towards getting him to sleep longer stretches (progressively) the older he got.
Oddly, the earlier we put him to sleep (he goes to sleep now about 8) the longer he sleeps.

Good luck!

She is only 2 months old. I wouldn't expect her to sleep any longer than that right now. Are you nursing or bottle feeding? If you are nursing, she especially shouldn't sleep any longer than that. Give her some time.

I 100% followed all of my babies cues, and all three of them were "late nighters". They all went to bed for the night between 9-11 p.m., and that remained constant until kindergarten. I fed them whenever they were hungry. Frankly, I kept no track of it because I don't believe I had any say in it - it's up to them, IMO.

All three of mine were great sleepers from birth, however, even though I BF. They tummy slept in bed with me and slept 6-7 hours each night from the hospital on.

EDITED 09/25: I wanted to ensure you had the CORRECT information on SIDS, since some have not done research. You can find a decade of research here that shows sleeping position has nothing to do with crib death:
