Ballerina Birthday Party

Hi gals - my daughter has become very into ballerinas and dancing on "tippytoe." She wants a tutu. Haha - anyway, I thought it would be perfect to have her birthday party theme be ballerinas (while she'll still let me pick a theme!). I'm going to make the invites and I'm trying to think of a cute little saying to put on the card. Last year it was, "Buzz on over for the fun... Our little ladybug is turning 1!" I was hoping to find some way to incorporate tutus and her turning two... I dunno. I'm having a hard time. Thanks for any ideas!

What can I do next?

"Twirling into two, so bring your tutu?" I don't know...anything would be kind of corny, but that's part of the fun of HAVING a two year old, isn't it? They will love the silliest things!

One thing...my ballerina got started by falling in love with ballet at two. We we got her into lessons at three and a half. She is now about to turn 11 and is on pointe, going to class twice a week and helping teach a younger class once a week, and has been absolutely focused on becoming a professional dancer since that first class. You never know! This might not be a passing phase.

I love the idea that the mom below had of hiring a ballet student to come show them some moves. It is very easy to make tutus with inexpensive tulle and wide ribbon or blanket edging. You might either make one for your daughter or even make several as the party favors for the children at the party.

Fun! She's turning tutu-two! One thing we did was hire a high school dance student to come teach the girls a few dance moves. And we got favors at our local dancewear store, included legwarmers, Angelina ballerina stickers, and a cd of classical music. Not many ideas for what to say on the invite, but these are a few things we did for our ballerina party a few years ago!

Two-Two much!! Who are the invitations going to? Adults or children?
Think of your theme, two-two equates to tutu. Twice as nice. Double the pleasure, double the fun.

Decide on your audience and attendees. Sounds like this is more for the adult family members and friends rather than her peers. At 2, she would only have 3 guest, the age of the child plus 1 more guest. Attention spans and cooperation levels are limited at that age.

Congratulations! you have reached the terrible but oh so terrific two's!!

I like the rhyme of two and tu-tu. I wanted to add that you can get ballerina themed things at The Dollar store for $1, if you're not already aware of it. They have the same stickers that cost $1.99 and $2.49 at other stores. I've seen stuffed bears wearing tu-tu's. Their stock revolves a lot and so they may not have so much when you need it but it's worth checking out.

Angelina Ballerina is fabulous. Check out the books and maybe you will be artistically inspired, or will be able to find some materials online.

Our daughter will be 2 in 2 weeks. We made the mistake of taking her to dance classes - it's been a debacle. Even the older girls don't have the attention span for the activities.

So, while we're not going to have a party for our daughter, I'd not want to discourage you from having one, but I do agree that it sounds like it's more for the parents/photo opps than for the girls themselves.

Unless you could find something cheap at a place like Oriental Trading Company, it could get expensive trying to do something for all the kids in attendance......our Dentist has prizes for the kids which include cheap magic wands. Perhaps something like that with pretty ribbons?

Why do people worry about who the party is for?? If you and your daughter and family/friends are having fun then that is all that matters.

There is a book collection called Angelina Ballerina. My daughter is older but she loves the stories.

Have her wear 2 different COLOR tutus! Purple and pink....any colors she likes. Then she also has the opportunity to show and explain the 2 different tutus!!
