My Daughters 1St Birthday

I am trying to plan my daughters 1st birthday and am looking for suggestions for the party. I have already decided on a theme - tutus and tiaras - but I am needing some suggestions as to what I can do for activities for the kids while they are here. I have already rented a bounce house and am wanting to be real creative on my ideas but unfortunately I am having trouble.

What can I do next?

It would be REAL cute to get one of the older girls from a local dance school to "teach" a balet class at the party.

Hi A., depending on the age of the kids at the party you could have them decorate picture frames with paint, glitter, etc...and then take some poloroid pictures of the kids with the birthday girl to put in their frame. you can get the wooden frames at Michael's for $1. If you need someone to make tutu's for you, please let me know, I have a small arts and crafts business and I sell tutu's. Thanks! And good luck! J. :)

Have them make their own tiaras. You can get great foam ones which are wonderful for the age at Michaels or JoAnns. Moms would have fun making them too- you decorate them with foam stikcers that ususally come in this box with the tiaras. Also, familyfun.com is a wealth of fun for parties to activities.
Have fun!

Get creative with the bounce house! Play games with it! See who can crawl the fastest, walk the further without falling. Maybe have a treasure hunt inside the bounce house!

Ask someone to dress in a ballet or princess costume and come in and lead them in some ballet dance. You could even just do free dance time when everyone does their best show. It would make a great video tape.

bubbles! it doesn't take much to entertain one year olds.

I second Missy's advice. Best birthday ever for my toddlers was a "splashy" party. A little wading pool, a slip-n-slide for older kids, some squirty-toys. However, since you've already decided on tutus - - - hmmm, maybe the little ones could wear tutus over their swim-suits. Only word of caution, there might be dangerous slip problems if water gets in the bounce house.

When my daughter was 5, we did a ballet party. The girls took a beginner's lesson, then we spent a little time choreographing a dance of flowers and one bee. When the parents returned for pick-up, they were rewarded with a cute show!! But since your daughter is only 1, you might wait on the choreography for awhile - - maybe just put on child-appropriate music - - hand all the little ballerinas a scarf or sparkly-wind-ribbon and let them FREE-dance!

Hello A.,

For my son's first birthday we did a swimming pool full of little balls for a ball pit and the little kids loved it. You could also buy a cheap slip and slide for the older kids. We put up one this weekend and all the kids loved it. It was the best spent $10.00.

I just seen this posting on craigslist and thought they were really cute. You can use them for the party favors...
