I had a friend that had 2 miscarriages after her first. She did sucessfully get pregnant and have a baby girl after the miscarriages, but she was under doctor's care. Most doctors recommend that after 2 you see a health care professional.

Maybe your body is just not ready to be pregnant again so soon. Your baby boy is just a year old. I'd give it six more months and if it's still happening make an appointment with your OB/GYN.

I would see your ob-gyn, and also a genetics dr. The reason why I am saying this, although it's a remote possibility, is that the babies could have some genetic disease and that is why they are miscarrying. I have a son who is 3. I had a miscarriage in december 09, and now i have a 5 month old daughter. My daughter has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) - a genetic disease (the number 1 genetic killer of babies under 2 years old) One of the questions the SMA doctors asked was if I had any miscarriages. There are different types of SMA, types 0 - 4. Type 0 usually means miscarriage or stillbirth. My daughter has type 1, with a life expectancy of only a few years. I am not trying to scare you- just inform you of what is out there. I had NO IDEA SMA existed, and now we are losing our beautiful baby to it. Sorry to be grim. Just get checked out and demand genetic screening. I wish i did. Best of luck to you.

You need to see your OB/GYN.
Are you under doctor's care?

seems a little too soon for your body if you've miscarried 3 times now....all in one year. Wait until next year, let your body heal.....& then consult with the dr before trying again.

Another option would be: seek medical treatment now. Have you had a D&C with any of these miscarriages? I would seriously consider that procedure. When I had my M/C....it was a requirement, not an option.

I would check out the book "fertility, cycles, and nutrition" by Marilyn Shannon. I believe there's a chapter or at least a section on nutrition and miscarriages. I'm so sorry about your little ones. Miscarriages are never easy.

Why the rush? It seems like you never gave your body a chance to recover after the first baby. I know I didn't feel back to myself for about 9-12 months after having a baby (I have 2). Another friend of mine was specifically told by her doctor not to get pregnant for a year after her first (she was in her late thirties). Talk to your doctor first and get a checkup with blood work. There are many possibilities and a doctor can start figuring them out so you can get yourself ready for another healthy pregnancy. I would wait 6 months or whatever is recommended by the doc. Also, don't lose hope. I know one person who had 11 miscarriages in the process of having her 2 healthy children (she has multiple medical issues including damage to her reproductive organs).

K,
No, it is not normal. Get rest, be easy, and get all kinds of nutrition - proper - in your system. I would seriously consider going to a naturopath vs a fertility clinic first. it sounds like your body is TIREd and really needs the break from having babies. 3 misscarries is the MD prescription for NO MORE CHILDREN. Our MD told us that we were allowed 3 miscarries and they would no longer support any fertility measures.

Very likely you need a boatload of calcium & iron, as well as others.

Stress may be holding you up also. That includes stress you may think you have on the backburner, but your body may not. : (

Good luck,
M.

You need to see a reproductive specialist.

Go see your doctor and get referred to a specialist. My best friend has had at least 8 miscarriages in the past 3 years and they've discovered that once she gets pregnant her Thyroid spikes. It really could be a number of things, or it could be nothing. But after 3 miscarriages in a row, it's time to see the doctor.

i agree with the other moms who say NO, its never normal to miscarry. I would definitely seek advice from an OBGYN doctor... they may even refer you to a reproductive endocrinologist (a fertility doctor). I had an amazing fertility doctor, and there's no shame in asking for help. They will be able to help you find the healthiest way and timeframe to get pregnant and hopefully stay pregnant. It sounds as if having a doctor to help you along the way will be very important for any future pregnancy!

I'm so sorry for your losses :( Good luck!

No it's not normal to have repeated miscarriages, whether before or after any other pregnancy. If you've had more than two miscarriages, you need to have a discussion with your OB or midwife, who will send you to a reproductive/fertility specialist to run some tests, etc Good luck

have you discussed this with your OB? have you ever had a D&C?

they can run some tests. I had one friend became RH- and that was the cause of her problems. I had one friend that had a miscarriage but not a D&C. She finally asked for one months later, just to see, and then was able to carry to term.

My opinion since you asked, stop trying to get pregnant and let your body get healthy first.

3 in a row is the "magic number" for seeing a specialist to find out what, if any, structural or chemical or environmental or behavioral (like dieting or other forms of stress) issues are in play.

You need to give your body time to heal and restore itself. 3 miscarriages in a year is too many. Most Dr's would tell you wait a min. of 6 months before you try again, if not closer to a year. You should see your Dr, as well to rule out a serious problem. Good luck.!

I am very sorry for your losses. its hard to know what is common. But I would consult someone. I saw an herbalist who helped me carry my babies to term. I was also getting pregnant but misscarying a lot....I saw aijalee.com but I'm in nyc. When I was pregnant she gave me an herbal drink and I never miscarried again!
