Are You a Crafty Person?

I love crafts. Love all the new and unique things people make out of random every day items. I make candy. It started out just for friends but morphed from there into a small business. It does however take lots of time. I am thinking of trying out some other craft. Not so good with a sewing machine though so thats out. What crafts does anyone make? the more different the better. I am ever on the lookout for homemade christmas gifts. I hate shopping but love taking the time to make gifts for family and friends. Thanks for any new and unique ideas.

What can I do next?

I wouldn't say that I'm exceptionally crafty, but I do love to scrapbook. I like the traditional paper scrapbooking, but a lot of my friends do digital scrapbooks now, and those make beautiful and meaningful gifts at the holidays. (With the added benefit that if you create one family album, you could order many copies of it and knock out a bunch of gifts at once!) I use Creative Memories products, and I know they do also have a digital scrapbooking program that is pretty user-friendly.

Other than that, last year we made homemade marshmallows (we used Martha Stewart's recipe) - both vanilla and peppermint flavors, and packaged those with homemade cocoa. We received a lot of compliments on those!

I love crafting, too! I just wish I had more time to do it all! For quick crafts, I like to make cards! I have pre-cut & folded cardstock that I bought on clearance and I decorate with stickers (scrapbooking type), ribbons, stamps, cut paper, etc. Last Mother's Day, I made a stack of personalized cards for my mom & grandma (addressed them from my girl, who helped with some of the "artwork"). They were a huge hit!

I also like doing ceramics (pour the molds, clean greenware, have them fired, and paint/glaze), crochet (I can only do blankets--haven't quite figured out the patterns for other stuff), scrapbooks, and I'm finally getting the hang of sewing (made my girl's halloween costume this year). When things settle down around the house, I'd like to see about starting a "crafting club" in my house!

If you want more ideas, go to your local "arts & crafts" shows to see what kinds of things other people are making (and selling)! There are some awesomely talented people out there!

I make and paint tiles with glazes and fire them in a kiln I keep in the garage. I like to make framed tiles and tile murals and I sell them at booths at craft/art fairs. I paint wildflowers, birds, nature scenes, etc.

My mom taught me to crochet. She would crochet slippers, scarfs, baby blankets. That was a comforting activity on a cold saturday on the couch. I used to do cross stich till I had kids and lost patience. My husband makes homemade candles.

Usually I just bake. I make Baklava, toffee squares, peppermint bark and whatever else I come up with for Christmas gifts.

I learned how to knit and made a cute hat for my son, I enjoyed the challenge of it and found it satisfying to make something that could actually be used.

I'm an obsessive knitter. I love to knit christmas gifts :) Especially because most knitted things are BEST for winter. I'd love to learn some other crafts like pottery or iron crafting but I don't have the time or resources.
