Any Suggestions for Dealing with Morning Sickness?

I am 7 weeks pregnant and am having awful morning sickness. I'd rather not go on any medications as I have a farm and our children to take care of while my husband is at work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm open to it all.
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks to all the wonderful Mama's out there! I tried almost all suggestions (except for the acupuncture, I'm a wimp!) and all of them helped a little. I carry jolly ranchers with me everywhere, as that helps to ease the nausea quickly, if only for a little bit. I went to the Dr's and asked him for help, so I tried Zofran (didn't help) and back to phenegran, which I cut into quarters. That makes me sleepy, but it also completely knocks out the nausea.

I found out about candied ginger when I was pretty much through the morning sickness stage. (Arrgh!) I also found out (as mentioned below) that an empty stomach made me nauseous. Keep trying different things - I hope you find something that works for you.

Sea Bands! They are awesome and work for all types of nausea, like sea sickness, motion sickness, morning sickness, and drug free! You can get them at the drug store.

I will give you all the recommendations that I had received in the past
Crackers before waking up
Ginger tea or ginger pills.
Cinnamon chewing gum, or smell a cinnamon stick when you feel the nausea.
Eat frequent small portions, have handy a bag of carrots, raisins, nuts so you have always something in the stomach.
Cold water with drops of lemon.
Hope one of this remedies help you

Hi A.. Lots of good suggestions so far. I had twins and had horrible morning sickness. I also used the sea bands (got mine at Walgreens for about $10) and wore those a lot! Another thing I found recently was a product called "Ginger Trips." Solaray makes them and I bet you could find them at Whole Foods or a health food store. They are chewable lozenges that have ginger root and vitamin B6 (which are both awesome for nausea. They actually taste really good too (and I'm not a huge ginger fan). You can buy them online (amazon.com, etc.) if you search for ginger trips by solaray.

A couple friends of mine had really good luck with the pressure point wrist bands people use for motion sickness. They made it much more bearable for them. No drugs, just boring looking bracelets. ;-) I wish I knew about them while I was pregnant.

San Pelligrino mineral water helped me alot. In fact, I developed such a taste for it when I was pregnant that I still drink it daily!

things that (kinda) helped me:
--eating a snack in the middle of the night
--making tea from ginger root and sipping it
--preggie pop drops, which kept me upright while i was at work
--saltine crackers
--small, frequent snacks of whatever i could keep down (one week all i ate was dry honey nut cheerios, hard boiled egg whites, and chicken)
--taking my prenatal at night
--lots of water

good luck!

Drinking a real ginger ale (not Schweppes), something like Reed's Jamaican Ginger ale can help a ton. Ginger is GREAT for reducing nausea (of ANY KIND). Just be cautious with how much you drink. In some women too much can cause insomnia. If this happens, just decrease your intake :)
Another thing that can help is motion sickness bands. They're like sweatbands with a plastic button on the inside to stimulate the acupuncture point Pericardium 6. If you get the bands, they'll come with instructions for the proper positioning of them.
Chinese medicine (acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine) can bring a TON of relief for MANY pregnancy-related symptoms. If you have any questions regarding Chinese medicine and pregnancy, feel free to message me privately, I'd love to answer them for you!

Hopefully one or more of these will help you get through the nausea so you can enjoy your pregnancy!
