Any One Have Children with Tic Disorder/ Tourettes?

Finding children for him to relate to on this level may be difficult. It may be too easy for me to dish out advice because I am not in your shoes, so you can take it for what it's worth. Perhaps you can look to some other things that would help him make friends. What are his interests? Are you enrolled in a church? Are there children in your neighborhood around his age. Kids can be cruel, but I have found that there are many that are much more understanding than you might think. If you can help him accept his disorder, then he may eventually gain enough confidence to discuss it openly. We fear what we don't understand and kids are no different. But, like I said, I don't know what you and your family are facing, I just wanted to let you know that there are people out there that care. Good luck and God bless.

I have a niece and nephew with tourettes. They are now 16 & 18 and have, for the most part, overcome the tics. I will talk to my sister-n-law to see if she knows of any in this area. Where are you located?

I have very little knowledge about Tourettes; however, know that it's important for you to seek as much information as possible. I would also advise you to contact either your sons principal or guidance counselor for advice on what types of special education or one on one help he may receive if his tourettes interferes with his education. Unfortunately I see many parents that are afraid of asking for this type of education; however, it's very helpful and should be free in the public education system.

Hugs! I found this page. I did have a girl in my public speaking class in college who told us all about her having tourettes, and she said her medication helped her a great deal. And I would have never known she had it, had she not told us. Sorry I couldnt be more help.
