Any of You Taken Your Kids to Makatus Island in Chandler?

Yes, I have taken my kids to Makatus Island and it indeed was worth the money and we did stay over 4 hours and had lunch there. My kids are older 4yrs and 10yrs so it is idea for both of them. Your 20 month old would not maybe enjoy it so much and your 3 1/2 old might still be a bit young to take advantage of the huge play area since my 4 yr old had his older brother to follow he felt comfortable. It might be that you wait until they are older and spend the money going to Chuck E Cheese which would definitely cost less and you'll get to eat too.

I think its for older kids too. My son went there once for a birthday party when he was 1 1/2 and I think it was aimed towards older kids. He will actually be going again in a week for another birthday party, he is now 3 1/2 and I think that he will actually be able to enjoy it. I think your older kid might be able to have fun, but it too young for your 20mo.

our daughter, now 11, has really liked going to makutus island - even at her age! it's a bit far for us, since we live in litchfield park, but is worth the trek! even the parents can join the kids in the fun! it's clean, very well designed, and safe for the kids (one way in/out and kids/parents have assigned wrist bands to keep them together)...

the food is decent, albeit not cheap, but they do have a variety of options from a snack to a meal...

i would definitely recommend the place, and i wish they'd get something like that out west!

added revision: i realized i wasn't initially considering your children's ages, but since both you and your husband would be there, and you'd have your 2 month old with you "hands free", you could each go with the kids to have fun and assist them! if your children are adventuresome, i'd not hesitate at all - am sure you'll all have a great time!

I too felt it was overwhelming and I would be nervous.
The 3 1/2 year old may be a good climber & you can easily loose him in the obstacle coarses. There is some things he can do that are low, but if he is curious.... he may not stay where his age appropiate things are. Your hubby may have to follow him through everything and for me it was tiring and major exersise. :0) The 20 month old may get nothing out of it other then climbing through a few tunnels on the ground. It is crazy on the weekends, so I would go first time in the week-day day...where it is not busy and have another adult with you. Some of the areas are dark and the child can't see down some slides.

I took my son there once when he was 2 1/2. In my opinion, it was too overwhelming for his age. I would recommend it for older children. I will probably take him back after he turns 4. Much of it was too high, too dark, too easy to get lost at his age. In fact, he did get lost at one point, because he went through a tunnel that I was too big to follow him through. When I tried to go around and find him on the other side, he was gone. When I found him, he was hysterically crying, curled up in the fetal position in the middle of the floor. Your almost 4 year old might be okay, but I would be concerned about your 20 month old. It is also difficult to keep an eye on 2 kids at the same time, because of the size of the facility.
