I am thinking of buying a play set soon. Does anyone have experiences with The Wooden Swing Company or Rainbow? Any suggestions? Thanks,

So What Happened?

Thanks all. I looked at all the options you all suggested and ended up getting a Rainbow. They have a great demo sale right now so we got an awesome price on one we otherwise couldn't afford.

We looked at both of these companies last year and ended up buying one from Creative Playthings instead. They have a store front in Frisco near Tin Star. We are very pleased-- they seemed to have really good prices, especially on installation, and lots of different options. Costco had a really nice set, too, but we wanted to have it professionally installed as well as make choices about what types of items we wanted on it-- two bucket swing seats while our girls were tiny with the option of trading those out for different swings later. That is how we finally made our decision.

We purchased a set from The Wooden Swing almost 5 yrs ago and they were absolutely great! They even moved the set to a new home for us for a fraction of what the movers quoted us! Very solid, quality sets and they back it up every step of the way!

I'd recommend them without hesitation!

We bought a Rainbow when our son was little; he's a very tall kid, and we wanted to make sure he would be able to play on it for a long time. Rainbow sets have no weight limit, so we could play on it with him. They're splinter-free, which is nice, too (some of the cheaper sets are not). The downside, though -- they're really over-priced. I don't think, if I had to do it over again, I'd buy a Rainbow. I think I'd go with a different company, or one of the cool ones from Sam's (listed by someone else).

We bought ours at Kids in Swings on the corner of Park and Preston. They are really GREAT! Mitch was hands-on with installation and has been great to visit with other times that we have returned to the store. It is a large redwood set, so even my husband and I can swing and slide. :)

We bought a used set four years ago from an individual who bought it from the Wooden Swing six years prior. My husband hired the Wooden Swing people to remove it from the owner's yard and put it back up in ours, and they also refurbished the wood (new finish). It looks brand new and is in great condition for such an old set.

Good luck making your decision. I think probably any choice you make will be good enough. :)

I dont know anything about the two companies, but I just wanted to let you know that we have seen a great looking wooden swing set at Sams Club for about $1200 that we are seriously looking into. It is much cheaper than a Rainbow, so there may be things that are important to you that it wont include, but we cant really afford the higher end sets, and thought that this one looked like lots of fun for years to come. God luck in your search! ~A.~

As I understand it, Costco's "Sunray" systems are made by Rainbow but private labeled for Costco. Not all the Costco systems are made by Rainbow - just the Sunray's. Huge difference in price.
