Another Baby Poop Question: Am I Worried over Nothing?

Ok, maybe this first time mom just doesn't know what's normal....

My 5 month old baby girl just went to all formula. We had been doing some formula with breast milk, but we had to go to all forumula. When we did her poop habits totally changed. She went from multiple, really runny poops a day to peanut-butter textured poop once to twice every 3 days. We've only been on all formula for about a week, and we're using the same formula we used while breast feeding. Is this normal? Is this just her body adjusting? Will she start pooping more often? Am I worried over nothing?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much, everyone! That helps a lot!

Leah - I don't think you mean that comment to come across a bit rude, and since I am probably reading into it (pun intended:-), I thought I would reassure you that I am reading and watching A LOT! But I have already lost 2 children. This is my first who has lived. So yeah, I'm a bit paranoid and I often want to reassure myself that my experiences are in line with what is common. Please don't post anything else about my being inexperienced and uneducated. It feels a bit insulting. Thanks!

I think it's fine. She's just adjusting to the new routine! She may or may not start pooping more frequently, but even if she doesn't, I wouldn't really worry. With my son we had to change his formula a few times due to adverse reactions and each time he had a constipation issue but it cleared up within a week or so, so it could totally be that too. She's fine!

This is totally normal. I also had to switch my older son to formula at about that age and the same thing happened. It freaked me out too but pediatrician assured me it was normal and his system just had to adopt and get on a new routine. Don't worry, it is totally completely fine.

Totally normal and just when you get used to this new normal she'll start solids and the poop will change again with every new thing she eats!

It's normal. If you find that she is constipated and straining, get some Gerber's baby prune juice and cut it with water - half water and half prune juice. Give her a few ounces a day. That will help.

Totally normal. It happened with both of my daughters. Nothing to worry about!

I agree that it is normal. Be careful though, it could turn to constipated fast. Formula would constipate my kids if i switched over.

Elizabeth you need some books and videos about a child's first couple of years. Birth to three is in your area. Join a group with parents of babies under a year. You will learn so much. You and your husband will meet other new parents you can talk things over with.
Babies are a whole new area for you. You can get a good background from both of my suggestions. I realize that today's parents aren't like me from a big family and always around children before having any of my own. But even I had several books on child development and alternative healing for children I could go to as sources.
