Hi moms!!

I have a favor to ask, is their anyone that has been in my position...I had a full hysterectomy over a year ago and am on a 1 mlgram estragen patch, estradiol climara, my question is how can you get that same energy back before the hormones?
I was off of the patch for a week because I was short on cash and just didn't pick up my perscription, oh boy I felt sooo great I was actually running instead of my 1/2 hour walks, I was in the best of moods ever!! How can I get this feeling back? I know I do have to be on this, otherwise, hello menapause, but why do us women have to go through so much? HELP!! I know I should be talking to my doc, but I went out of town to have the surgery, so he's not my reg. doc.

What can I do next?

I am a grandma of a 4 year old and have had amazing results with menopause with a nutritional food supplement different than anything out there on the market! No hot flashes, I can sleep through the night, no memory issues, and energy galore! I am out in Arizona for a couple of weeks now and yesterday I walked 4 miles and played singles tennis with my son! Please email me if you would like to know more.

I agree w/Nicole W. It's definately worth your looking into. Many, many women swear by this product (Prolief/Phytoprolief) from Arbonne.

Good luck with what you decide to do!

Hi Gina,
I agree that using prescription drugs is not always the answer. If interested in a natural way to improve your health, email me for more information.

Find a new practitioner! You need someone that will listen to you and not just say you need to be on this. My Midwife had her ovaries out about 18 months ago and I asked her if she was taking anything and she said no, not unless I have symptoms needing attention. Have you thought about seeing a Naturopath or Homeopath? I have had great success with both and got 100 points off my cholesterol, yes that is 100! And it was natural and trained my body to be balanced, instead of being stuck on a statin for the rest of my life. There are plenty of ways to approach this.
Also, have you thought of checking out Holistic Moms Network? They seem to have a lot of usable advice and answers to so much.
Take care and know there is another way,
J.

Hi Gina, My name is K. I had a full hyserectomy in 1995 I was started on the patch and then pill ect... I felt aweful all the time the estrogen caused migraines, I was tired and had Zero energy. One day I just stopped taking them! What a difference I had a life back. When I saw my doctor he was really insistant that I take it but I wouldnt.LOL 5 yr later I went to another Womens clinic and saw a different Dr. My first words to her where Do i have to take estrogen? It makes me have headaches and I feel like S#%t
when I do. She told me why would you take something that makes you feel bad. Just make sure you supplement with a good calcium and do some weight bearing activities to slow down bone loss.
I take an isotonic form of calcium that i purchase from my homebased business and get paid for doing it. I have horses so I 'm alway doing heavy stuff. I havent had any hot flashes or any bad effects, I feel pretty darn good. I will be having my 50th birthday soon and am doing really well.
Of course you might not want to be as bullheaded as i am and talk it over with your doctor before you get off the estrogen.

I you are interested in the calcium go to Marketamerica.com/payitforward sign in as a customer and click on health and nutrition. You will find the calcium there.

Good luck

K.

Gina - I don't believe that women should ever have to suffer during menopause or any other time of the month. Western medicine has created a market and need for all of their prescription drugs. The more drugs you can sell, the more profit there is, the more side affects, the more drugs that are needed.

There are lots of alternatives. Accupuncture, chiropractic, vitamins/minerals and other natural remedies. Granted you put your body into shock by having a complete hysterectomy, but there is still hope.

I'm hosting an event on November 15 from 2-4 PM at the Mall of America Grand Ballroom. A medical doctor will be talking about women's health and how to prevent breast cancer. It's free. Let me know if you want to attend. This may give you ideas of alternatives to drugs and side affects that require more drugs.

Best of luck,

D.

Hi, Gina. I don't know if you're familiar with the company Arbonne International, but they offer botanically-based health and wellness products. The have a hormone balancing cream that I use and really like. Let me know if you'd like any information. I can send you the info sheet on it and you could dicuss it with your doctor.

Another great place for information is Dr John Lee. He has several books on the subject. His website is http://www.johnleemd.com/

After my hysterectomy I was put on Premarin. Unfortunately, it was too big a dose and I had joint problems and depression that was unbelievable. They then put me on the Estrogen patches and that was a laugh. Everytime I turned around they were falling off in bed or in the shower or just inside my clothes while at work. The last straw was when I jumped out of the shower one day and my Cocker Spaniel was standing there with my Estrogen patch in his mouth. They then put me back on a much lower dose of Premarin and it has done wonders for me. It did take a little while to get the energy and ambition back, but now I'm doing fine; I weed flowerbeds and gardens, chase around after and with two grand-daughters I babysit for and just keep going, going, going. My husand tells me at times that I remind him of the Delco rabbit. Good luck and talk to your doctor about this, I'm sure he can find some alternative or medium to help all this.

I have no good advice, but felt compelled to write after reading your other responses. "Natural" solutions and botanical supplements may be great, but to suggest them to somebody who is no longer able to produce estrogen naturally seems crazy to me. I imagine you need to get your hormone dose adjusted, and I definitely would suggest seeing a doctor about it. I'm guessing that if you felt so good without the patch you could maybe use a lower level (but that's just a guess). Anyway, I'm sorry you had to have the complete hysterectomy and hope you are able to find a good doctor that can help you.

Gina:

There are several natural methods of estrogen and progestin that people use. I work at a family planning/ reproductive health care clinic and we recommend them all the time. I would however recomend you speak to your doctor. As young as you are your body is still naturally producing estrogen so your tiredness may be caused from too much estrogen in your system. Again talk to your doctor or if you would like a referral to one of our NP's email me privately.
