What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks everyone for all the info. I think I am going to try it. I will let everyone know how it works for me. Thanks a bunch. Have a great day. S.

I haven't tried it. I was tempted to, but then I heard you have to be near a bathroom because if you eat any fat, it goes right thru you. needless to say.......

OMG!!! lets just say It did not work for me. I could not get past the horrible side effects. The "oily discharge" was terrible and I had no controll over when it decided to cause problems for me.

I stopped using it after about 2 weeks I could not stand it plus it made me smell funny... I would have to wear a pad to prevent accidents and leaks and I ate a reasonably lower fat diet on it. I would never use it again

Have your tried Weight Watchers. It's permanent. You learn how to eat and become aware of your eating habits. Alli, like others may jump start your weight loss, but won't stop you from putting back on if you lose weight. You can do WW on line or by classes. It really works. A lifetime member for 4 years.

It has helped me - but you do have to believe the warnings - if you cheat - bad things WILL happen. If you keep your fat intake to less than 30% - you will likely not have the "bad side effects" - they have only happened to me when I've cheated. I've lost about 15lbs in the last 4 months (baby weight) and I really think it has helped me - and I like that it is FDA approved. I say give it a shot - but know that if you do cheat - you will pay!

Actually in reading one of your other responses and hearing about the side effects, the side effects of this non-prescription medication sound a lot like the side effects of a prescription medication I took for some time to help lower my cholesterol and lose weight. Alli works to get rid of excess fat one ingests. One horrible side effect is oily discharge. The discharge takes place even when you have to "pass gas". The first time I innocently did this without knowing about what would happen to my body, I was (thank God), at home and able to change clothes. I was taking a medication called Xenical which is similar to Alli in what it is supposed to do...that is remove unwanted, consumed fat from your body so your body does not absorb it. Unfortunately some other side effects were dry skin, dry hair and brittle nails. Because our bodies need some fats in them to keep these parts nourished, the medication was removing all the fat I was consuming...thus the dryness. Oily stool is another side effect (of Xenical and also of Alli) and I'm not talking just a little oil. I'm talking leaving a ring of orange oil in the toilet bowl and splashing up along the sides. Thus if you're visiting a friend or at a restaurant and have to use a bathroom other than your own, you will leave your mark! I had to constantly use toilet bowl cleaner to keep my commode halfway decent looking and I am not mincing words here. The side effects of Alli might not be as bad as it is not a prescription, but I assure you, it works the same way that the Xenical did. Aside from the side effects, the results were AWESOME! I lost the weight and my cholesterol came down to a normal level, BUT...once I stopped the medication, and continued my normal eating habits, my weight returned...and I am now heavier than I was than before I had begun the medication. I am now eating better and losing weight the old fashioned way...change of eating habits and exercise. I've cut out all sugar, potatoes (oh how I miss them), processed foods, fried foods, cut way down on carbs and don't eat ANYTHING after 8 pm. I also have cut out all caffeine products. I have been doing this now Since Feb, 2008 and have lost 8 pounds. Slow going, but steady. Controlling portion sizes is also important. I also am not eating any chips at all and when my husband eats a burger, I do too, but leave off the bread, chips and fries! Good luck and hang in there...I too am about 40-45 pounds overweight. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

I have not personally tried it for the pure and simple fact of all the side effects. It just doesn't seem healthy to me. I've been using Arbonne's weight loss program with great results and all their products are pure, safe and beneficial. You have to find what is going to work for you but if you are interested in learning more about Arbonne's weight loss products, feel free to email me from my website www.foravibrantlife.myarbonne.com. I'd be happy to answer any questions. I wish you all the best!
