From what I understand, it's just another version of Xenical. Just a lower dose. So just look up the side effects of Xenical, and apply them to Alli.

J.,

I researched it and this is what I learned. Alli is the same medicine as Xenical but a much lower dosage. However, the side effects are the same, oily staining of stool in your underwear. This is not any weightloss breakgthrough. It is a fat blocker. If you have a very low fat diet already, it doesn't do anything. If you eat too much, well, you poop your pants!

I am not going to buy it. It's a gimmick with a bunch of advertising hype.

I have not taken ALLI, but did take the prescription strength of the same drug. I only took it for less than 30 days. No matter what I ate, I had loose, oily stools. In addition, I had leakage nearly 24 hours a day. I wore a super, long maxi pad to control it and decided that it was not worth the few pounds it might help me shed.

Hope this helps!

I bought Alli on Friday when it came out, but didnt start using it until Sunday. You must stick to a low fat diet. I do anyways, but if you do eat something higher in fat then the pill allows, you will have "oily spotting". I am not trying to be gross, that is what the bottle list as a side effect. I have been taking it for 4 days and have lost 3-4 pounds. I like it, but be forwarned- it is expensive ($60 for the starter kit).

At first I was a little gassy, but besides that I am not experiencing anything out of the ordinary. I think this pill may effect people differenty, but my experience has been great so far!

My husband was on a prescription fat blocker, I think it is the stronger version of Alli. He constantly was in the bathroom, within 15 minutes or so after every meal. He took it for a month and while he did lose 8lbs, he stained many pairs of pants (the leakage is fat) and it took forever to get an orange film out of my toilet.

(not trying to be icky, but this is something you would need to know before taking the pills)

Hi, I haven't tried it but it sounds like some not so nice side effects. My husband has been on a weight loss program and has lost 65 pounds since january. He's amazing. He watches what he eats, hasn't started excercising yet, but takes a diet pill from Arbonne. They also have the shakes and weight loss chews (which are great for curbing that appetite) You can email me if you would like more info. I'm a believer in it since it worked for my hubby. ____@____.com

Hello J.,
I personally haven't used this product, but I just heard a news story the other night about this product. They said it causes major diarreha(sorry if it's spelled wrong) and also major head-aches. I would recommend talking to your doctor first and I hope someone else has tried this and can help you a little more....hope this helps a little.

Hello! I'm N. . I've been a senor pharmacy tech for 7 years . Alli just came out on June 14,2007. It's reported by the fda to be a make of xenical ( I think imay have spelled it wrong ) but, it's a lower mg capsule. Each capsule is 60 mgs , taken with each meal. If your consume a high amount of fat you can get severe bowel movements. You have to watch the fat in take . It will not cause jitters, sleeplessness, or a racing heart. You can get info from MyAlli.com . Side affects include : loose or more frequent stools it may be hard to control, gas with oily discharge. It's recommended that you consume no more than 15 grams of fat per meal . It cost 59.99 for 60 capsules , 69.99-79.99 for 90 capsules and 89.99 for 120 capsules refill pack. ( prices vary depending what store you shop at or on-line. I hope this helps a little . Talk to your MD first.

I haven't tried it and I don't think I will. Go to their web site www.myalli.com and read up. Basically what it does is block the fat from being absobed into your body. They maintain that if ON A DIET you can lose 10 pounds, with myalli, you will lose 15. The main side affect (if you do not eat a strict diet) is loose stools.

Hi Alli. I have never heard of the pill, but my sister in law usually reads up a lot about weight loss and pills. She just recently saw a dietician and he told her that if you put a vitamin or weight loss pill in a glass of water and it dissolves in an hour or less than it should be effictive and help, but if it takes longer than an hour all it is doing is sitting in your stomach. Don't know if that tid bit might help but wanted to share.

I am not sure of your age, but if you are looking for something to help with weight loss I have been told the One a Day Weight Control with Green Tea is really good. It is a vitamin that helps control your metabolism. My sister in law says that it is safe to take (and dissolves in an hour) and plus it has vitamins to help keep your strength going with having a new baby.

Good Luck!

From the www.myalli.com website, a potential side effect:

"You may feel an urgent need to go to the bathroom. Until you have a sense of any treatment effects, it's probably a smart idea to wear dark pants, and bring a change of clothes with you to work"

That would be the side effect that would scare me the most.

I have not used it, nor am I planning on it. Just thought you'd want to know about the website...great information there - be sure to check it out.
