OMGish....I have been watching All My children since I was 11 years old. I DVR it everyday (I don't watch it every day though) but tonight when I started to watch it said that it was the LAST show ever! Does anyone else out there watch it? I know that soaps are not popular anymore....but dang. I grew up with these people:-( I wonder what Susan Lucci will do?

What can I do next?

I stopped watching on my birthday last year and it's almost been a year. It was the best thing I ever did. Since then I've stopped watching everything else. I have only seen one movie in the last 6 weeks. Tv is such a time waster.

BUT...I still feel sad about the shows going away. I detest reality tv and can't believe they are putting more of that nonsense on instead. And cooking shows? REALLY? Do we need more of those?

Oh well. If it were not for my mother and these kids I'd be able to get rid of cable. My mom loves her shows and my kids learn a lot on public television.

I never understood how these shows stayed on anyway. How does anyone have time to watch daytime tv?

I'm doing great to keep up with all my things as it is, much less stopping to watch daytime soaps or any other tv.

Our tvs are never on before 5 pm daily

I have watched AMC from the day it began...and I am more than sad that it is going off the air but I do hear that it has been sold to some online company that will continue to produce it for online viewing. I don't know when, who or how much it will cost us to watch it.
I think that the production costs of Soap Operas with their large casts, production crews...remote location shoots etc etc etc have just made them not very profitable...when you compare them to these talking head shows that are shot in a studio with small production staffs, and only a couple of "stars" to pay.
AMC has been my "guilty pleasure" for 40 plus years and I will miss Pine Valley...BUT ...I have been taping the show and am only now watching shows from July...so I have a couple more months of Erica and her shenanigans to watch before I come to the end of the road...lol.
Good Bye All My Children...it's been a great ride!!!

I heard they "might" put it on computer to watch so you may check into that. I sometimes watch it but more so One Life To Live and it is going off the air too, i DVR it every day. Very sad about that too. Crazy that they want to replace it with MORE reality. UGH

I have watched it forever also. I remember my Mom watching it when I was a kid and when I got into high school I started really watching it. Makes me sad that it ended. The are in negotiatios to put it online through Prospect Park. I heard some of the younger stars have already signed on but some of the bigger stars are working on contracts because to stay with the show on-line means they will have to take a pay cut. Monday I am going to feel lost when it doesn't air. I also watch OLTL and GH and OLTL is going off the air in January.

I know. My mom was complaining about the same thing and I grew up watching them with HER! One Life To Live has also been canceled. It sounds like they will still do All My Children Online if popularity will continue. Not sure what they are going to replace it with because with General Hospital those are really the better ones. Mom told me that Susan Lucci is NOT going quietly and I say "Good for You!!!"

I got hooked one time when I visited my SIL, and I used to watch it with my MIL. Apparently, One Life to Live is going to be the next to go in January, but maybe General Hospital will stay. The announcement is on the web site, http://abc.go.com/site/abcdaytimenews

I know, it is soooo sad. I didn't ever really watch it (my mom was a GH fan) other than a few episodes here and there, but when it moved production to LA my son was cast as one of the children and it was a fantastic experience. all of the cast and crew were so nice and welcoming and family oriented and simply amazing. We've been kept informed of all of the online plans (which doesn't amount to much other than that Prospect Park bought the rights and they plan to put it online.) and the amazing outpouring of support from fans trying to save the show, then showing support for online, and trying to keep the kids on the show instead of aging them or something. I hope they will have reruns on some cable station for fans to watch. A lot of people say they feel like they're losing family. It will be a missed institution!

General Hospital is slated to go and will be online also. From what I've heard, I think soaps are pretty much done on mainstream TV. They're supposed to be getting replaced with cooking shows/ talk shows. Boring.

Supposedly some company is picking it up and will be continuing it online. I don't know if they are keeping all of the same characters. I am just praying that they don't cancel General Hospital. I don't know what I would do!
