Ok, I'm overwhelmed right now with all the websites you can go to to purchase airfare. Is anyone a pro at this and know which is truely cheaper and what day of the week is better to buy on? I looked yesterday and dang it if the tickets aren't more expensive today than yesterday. That is fustration and I'm driving myself crazy on thinking if I buy now they will go back down in price as they were yesterday but if I don't they will keep going up. UGH HELP LOL.

Southwest and I believe Air Tran will refund you the difference in their ticket prices in the form of a credit if the ticket price goes down before you fly. However, you have to be the one to find the difference, they just won't do it. I know Virgin America only goes to limited places out of DFW, but they had some really great rates, and it was the best flying experience that I've had. Usually though, I end up finding the best rates on American. I don't use travel websites because they are usually the same price as the airlines and they charge a fee. A friend of mine just used travelocity over the summer and when they changed their flight, travelocity never changed it with the airlines so they had to cancel their trip because the cost of the ticket was over double of what they originally booked for.

I signed up at airfarewatchdog.com and let them do the work for me. Once you sign up it tells you the cheapest flights and dates, you can choose to be updated daily, weekly or monthly.

I only shop Southwest.com They are cheaper than everywhere else, a big percentage of the time.

In December I got tickets for a trip, each way was only $49. A few weeks later I added on my son for the same flight and of course they had gone up, but they were still only $69 each way.

checkout Southwest. You can bring up a calender on their site that lists price per day and time. Very helpful if you have some flexibility..

I am in the DFW area and I book tickets weekly for our business and for our personal use.

I never ever go to the cheapo discount sites... You get what you pay for...

I deal directly with Southwest.com and get great deals. My hubby flies to Houston monthly and I book at least 21 days out and he can fly RT for $120 which is nothing.

Southwest has a lot of good deals.

The only other site I work with is directly with American Airlines. You can get good deals with them as well.

Know your plan of actions, dates, flexibility and times you want to travel.

Good luck

Depends on where you are going! I always try Southwest first since they seem to be the cheapest airline right now. If i do not have any success I then try expedia.

I like kayak.com for finding airfares. They'll check a bunch of different airlines and give you the prices. I think you can also put in a range of dates to leave and come back, and it will give you a matrix of prices that you can select from. I also have had good luck with Hotwire.com for finding cheap fares.

TOTALLY depends on where you're going.

In general... I stick with TravelZoo for domestic, and am "brand loyal" to British Air for international (because of the "economy plus" / "premier economy" seating which is better than american business class, for just a smidge over what coach costs when booked out in advance.

Well write where you're flying to and from where so we can tell you. If southwest flies from your nearest airport to where you're going, southwest will have the best prices. even those though change. for example if you're trying to book 3-4 months in advance it will be this price and then a few weeks later it will drop. usually they will offer something like 40 dollars one way, but again you have to know if southwest is an option for you. otherwise I use travelocity or yahoo travel and compare prices. also expedia comes to mind but all these three offer comparable prices to one another. southwest is best in my opinion.
