Ahhh!!!! All the Name Changes!!!!

I get why it was done. That whole mess was terrible and shame on Mamapedia. But I'm so confused now! :( I've been on here so long (and a while before that in the Mamasource days) that I feel like I've gotten to know so many and now I can't figure out who's who! I mean, I think I know some "voices" but still I'm lost. :( I read someone's response (I forget who now or what post it was on- sorry) but she just swore in each paragraph she wrote. LOL Can't we all just be potty mouths so the ones like me- totally slow on the uptake- don't get confused?! LOL
Okay so here's a question so this stays. What happens when you change your name? Did you have to start a new account or is there some way you can go back and change everything- names, get rid of your questions/ answers? I mean, if I clicked on someone's name and read through their previous questions and answers I could probably figure out who is who- at least among the long timers. Ya know?!

What can I do next?

i know. i'm SO angry with MP. i can sort of tell who some folks are just because of their writing styles, but it really does feel like a whole different community now.

I don't really see the point in changing the screennames, because all the old posts are still showing under the new screennames, unless people have been actually closing their old accounts and opening new ones. That doesn't seem to be the case.

Rather than change the screen name, I have been going through and deleting my questions so that MMP has no interest in sharing my problems with Facebook.

I can't figure out who is who either, A.! I hope some people will write me and tell me who they are. I'm writing people as I think of them and letting them know I changed my name too. My poor brain can barely remember names of people I see in person from time to time, so I'm keeping a list of those I've figured out...

The only thing that happens is that now there is a different name associated with the same account. You can still see all the same questions and answers (unless the original poster has removed the question so that the MP money-makers don't throw the question up on Facebook like they did this weekend).

In addition to all the new names, we have some new trolls. So when you see some "questionable material", click on the person's questions AND answers to see if they've been here a while or if they are new.

From the way it went this weekend, I doubt that MP would even notice swearing in the posts, since they don't seem to bother to read the threads before they use them as a Facebook ad...

Smiles to you!

I could go back to J. whenever and if I flower you or message you J. still shows up. Heck I may grow bored with this and go back any day.

Most people figured out who I was because, well, I have a very odd, yet distinct, writing style. :)

I flamed a turnip once and had a post removed for it, kind of makes me laugh so that is how I ended up a flaming turnip.

Spoiler alert: I'm H.. (Or didn't my verbose writing style give me away?)

Just go into your profile, click edit... there, you can add/change your 'nickname'. I'm not much of a joiner, but since other people had changed their name, I thought it would be fun. "Nervy" is actually a play on my middle name, not on my personality.:)

No real sense of anonymity and not looking for it-- hence, you can link to my blog from my profile and find out who I 'really' am.
Momma 11: without a lot of details-- some people had been under the impression that Mamapedia was a self-contained entity; when they discovered that Mamapedia's Facebook page linked to posts on this site-- and when one sensitive post was mislabeled (and really was poorly-chosen for 'outside' view), people were upset. A lot of regulars felt that their sense of anonymity was compromised (I think because they were on Facebook, too) and hence the name changes.

When you go in and change your screen name, it automatically changes everything. So all my old posts from before my new name, now have my new name. The code written into the response just automatically picks up whatever screen name is currently linked to that line of code. (Ok, maybe my computer literacy is not accurate, but you get the idea).

I've been here since mamasource, too. And it is a little confusing... but, c'est la vie.

I changed my screen name wwwwaaaaayyy before Mamapedia made their guffaw!!

All you do is go to your profile, under your name and change it. No new account. Questions don't disappear...nothing changes but the name!! You can change your location too...that's at the top left!

Good luck!!

All their old stuff is there. Only if they've opened a new account is it gone. Yesterday, one long time user was accusing another of being a troll, but when you click on the supposed troll's new name, her old posts and even her same picture is right there. Unless you've been using your real name all along, a name change won't increase your privacy.

Ya..it is confusing.

I haven't changed my profile name...I figure if my husband ever runs for President they will find me no matter if I am M. W...or M. D...or M. Poop head.

I do try to keep some anonymity so I never reveal my name and I am not linked to Facebook.

I would love to get to know some of the ladies and dudes here on a friendlier level but it opens me up to some drama I don't need in my life...or my family's life. There are some crazies on here that pop in and out....ain't nobody got time for that!!

That whole FB thing made me angry. Mamapedia really messed that one up. I have unliked their page. This is my second screen name, so I don't think I'll be changing it again. Not that anyone cares......

I had to get all new log in stuff a few weeks back cuz I was 'gone' for a while and accidentally got logged out of my original account. I requested my password from mamapedia but never got a response, so I just made a new account.

You can change your profile with the same account. I did a while ago because of the Facebook stuff. I would advise against using your real name, even first name, on here anymore if you want to post anything personal.

Instead of changing my name on my profile, I decided to start another profile under my other email address. It was just easier and I'm not on here as much as I used to be. I have been over the drama for a long time and decided a fresh start was needed.

Hi mamas and dads,
I'm a bit confused. So if I haven't "liked" MP on FB or linked my accounts, there shouldn't be a problem, right? I don't link anything to FB, I want everything about me on the internet to be siloed as much as possible. No real reason except I don't like the idea of "big data" from every which way being consolidated about me. Too creepy.

Have a great day everyone!!
