I am a mother of 3, going to be moving to the area and need some advice on a charter school called Compass Montessori...I also would like to know if anyone has any information on preschools that are reasonably priced that are not a full day.

What can I do next?

I also live in Thornton, and there is a great preschool that used to be called Wonderworld, Inc. (I'm not sure what their new name is) 1540 Eppinger Blvd. Thornton, CO 80229. Phone: ###-###-####

My 7yr old daughter attends Highland Montessori in Thornton. This is its first year of operation and it is part of the public school district. My daughter loves it, is doing so much better in school this year, and I REALLY like her teacher.

I can not tell you anything from my own experience; however, a friend of mine is a teacher's assistant in the pre-school. Her four children go there, two have gone through the pre-school. I would pass this on to her but she is out of town this week. The main school can be contacted at ____@____.com friend and her kids love it.

Hi A.,

My son is going to start a preschool program in September that is mornings-only and truly preschool, not daycare. It came highly recommended to me, and I went and checked it out. The director and teachers seem really great, the place is warm and cozy but clean, and they have a curriculum that they follow every day. They also have an infant room where kids can go as soon as they turn one, called the Mommy's Morning Out program, which I also plan to use once my daughter is old enough. It's in a church, but not affiliated or religious. Here's a link:

I have heard good things about Compass, except depending on where you live in Arvada it can be a really long commute. Arvada is bigger than it looks on a map!

Good luck with your new family!

HI there! We just moved to the area as well...we live in Thornton. I have a two year old that had never been to day care but I found a great place for him. He goes to Kindercare on 128th and Colorado in Thornton. The teachers are great and he loves going! They are the only ones that I have found that offer more than just full day prices. The have a few different plans for hours. Even if you don't live in Thornton, they have other places around the area!!!! Good luck in your move and new family!

I'll second the vote on KDD at AUMC. Both of mine went there and its a great program! The teachers are highly qualified, the school is NAEYC accredited and it is truly a preschool geared towards the needs of kids - meaning the academics somehow get taught but they don't focus on them at all - they focus on getting the kids ready for kindergarten - social skills, self-help skills, etc. St. Joan of Arc (58th west of Ward) has a great reputation. And there's always Happy Valley (75th and Quaker), which is great because of all the animals - my older one started there.
