Preschool for 3 Year Old in Flower Mound

I am new to the area and would like to enroll my child in a preschool for two or three days a week. Although I am not sure, I would also consider looking into a Spanish immersion preschool. My child has not attended school prior to us moving to Texas but we haven't met any children at home during the day like in our old neighborhood. Any insight into preschools in Flower Mound or a surrounding area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the recommendations. My husband and I agreed that we should initially look at each one recommended and then narrow the list down to a few to check out. We have not been to the Flower Mound Library yet for story time but I have that on my list of things to check out. Thanks again to all the moms for help!

My daughter goes to Castle Mound Montessori in Flower Mound and she loves it and we do too! Very well rounded program with several options for scheduling.

I have a good friend who has her 2 kids at DKH in Highland Village and she raves about them. I live in HV, but they do not offer a long enough day for my work schedule.

My teacher friends also speak highly of Spanish School House. One of the teachers does the Wed and Fri Storytime at Barnes and Noble H.V. and she does a great job, but that is my only personal experience.

Good luck!

I had an IMPOSSIBLE time finding part time in the FM area! It may be a little far for you, but my son goes to Colleyville Christian Preschool. You choose days and times. The teachers are extremely professional. This is a SCHOOL not a daycare. I've been VERY VERY impressed.

I believe Caminito Spanish Immersion Pre-School is planning to expand and will be in your area soon. While researching schools check them out. My child attends in Keller and we're very happy there!

Spanish Schoolhouse is great... it's a Spanish immersion preschool. My 3 year old goes to the one in Southlake but they have a Flower Mound location as well.

Check out the links that Valerie provided. There are a number of mom groups in Flower Mound, from MOMS Clubs, Early Childhood PTA's, Mothers of Pre schoolers and more. Also there are many pre schools. Some are church based and others are Montessoris or independent ones.
Have you been to Storytime at the Flower Mound library?

Montessori schools are wonderful! Both of my daughters have been to Montessori school and I am so please with their education. My youngest currently attends Alden Montessori School, it's right off FM 2499 and FM 407. Check out their website: www.aldenmontessori.com

Good luck!

I had my son at a wonderful preschool in FM, but they closed this past summer...Just in time for wanting to start my daughter there... =( But now I have her (she turned 3 in Dec and I started her in Jan) in the Early Connections program at the Lewisville Rec Center (for 3 year olds, it's called "Little School"). It's solely a preschool, and it's been great so far! My daughter loves going - the only thing I don't like is the time; it's only from 10:00-12:15pm Tues and Thurs. I wish it was a little longer, but next Fall she'll move up to the next class ("Busy Bears" I think) and it's for another hour or so, then the Pre-K program is a little longer than that.

I also know a lot of people who take their kids to Lewisville Christian School (Main St and Garden Ridge, right on the edge of FM) and they love it. For their 3-year old program, the kids must be potty trained, otherwise they put them in MDO, which, to me, is more like a daycare. But their preschool programs are just that, preschool, not daycare. Their times I think are Tues, Thurs, 9a-1p.

I also have a friend who just started her daughter at DKH in Highland Village - I think it's a little more pricey, but I have heard many, many wonderful things about it! Also just a preschool, not daycare. I have considered the possibility of switching my daughter there in the Fall.

You might also want to check out Reading Friends; we were going to send our son there, I really liked their program, but it was too expensive for us at the time. Good luck finding something, there really are a lot to choose from - just make sure you visit each place with your child at least once - they are usually pretty good about letting your child get in with the group and interact/participate with the class while you are there, so you can see how they do.

These two links will give you lots of options:
http://familyeguide.com/Child-Care-Education.html
http://familyeguide.com/Mothers-Day-Out.html
They're all located in the Flower Mound/ Lewisville area.

Personally, my kids went to CCDC at First United Methodist in Lewisville (it's only an 8-10 minute drive from my FM home). They only offered Spanish as a supplement once a week, but they enjoyed it, and the school has an excellent reputation in our area.

I know many of the preschools, like Wonderland Montessori in FM, offer part time programs and spanish instruction (not necessarily immersion).

Good luck! And Welcome to Flower Mound!
