Abnormal Labs- 20 Weeks Pregnant

I had my labs drawn when I was 4 weeks pregnant at my 1st appointment. The following month my doctor told me that my antibody blood work was elevated. He said it wasn't a big deal, he would talk to a blood specialist in Topeka and let me know at my next appointment. At the following months appointment, I was told, not to worry, it would most likely correct itself and it could possibly even be a false positive. Well fast forward a little while, labs were redrawn at my 15 week visit, and I thought that would be the end of it. I was getting ready to go to my sonogram appointment yesterday and my doctor called to tell me that my levels were still elevated for the antibody and that i would need to see an OB Specialist out of Topeka to have a 3D sonogram and that he would try to set that up within the next week and a half. So now i am seriously freaking!! I saw my baby's arms, legs, feet, hands yesterday and i saw his little heart beating, but i can't help but worry now that something else is wrong. I am just being paranoid, or does this soulnd like i should have something to worry about? I cannot shake this feeling that something is wrong. This is my 4th baby and i have never had abnormal labs before! also, i don't know if this matters or not, but throughout this pregnancy i have not felt good one day. i am always so extremely tired and always sick at night.

What can I do next?

I can't give you any specifics (its been a long time since I was pregnant). I can tell you, however, that labs can sometimes give a false positive and/or not mean anything. My friend had a false positive early in her pregnancy and spent the next several months worrying herself sick. She was told the baby most likely had downs syndrome (not terrible of course, just not what you might want to hear). The doctor she met with tried to bully her into getting an amnio and she refused (she didn't like the risk statistics). After a few months, she was able to get a detailed sonogram (3d?) and everything was 100% fine. She couldn't help but think what might had happened if she had the amnio and lost the baby (I also know someone that happened to where the baby was 100% fine and healthy - although this is VERY rare, it can happen).

So - please don't worry - it's most likely nothing to worry about. I'm going to pray for you and your family.

I can't imagine your stress level. I would recommend not borrowing trouble until you are certain it's found you. Enjoy your family. Put you house in order best you can feeling ill. Focus on taking care of yourself in the meantime. The answers will come soon enough. I will be sending positive thoughts your way.

ok I just went and looked online about elevated antibodies.....pregnancy...While I only glanced a bit...there is nothing under google that speaks of birth defects rather..something with you..thyroid, infection or vitamin deficiency...Maybe I am on the wrong track here. If the sonogram is showing normal growth and fetal activity what is he looking for? hmmm...I think you will be fine.
