Hi Ladies, I'm going to Los Angeles next week on a business trip. My supervisor and I are booking an extra day to stay and play. We will be in the Century City/Santa Monica Blvd area. We'll be relying on Uber for transportation. What are the must-see things? Any favorite restaurants? For reference, we're both female and late-40s.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great suggestions! We wound up having to work more than we planned on and were short on time for fun, so we just booked a touristy tour :) It was fun though, and we got to see all the LA highlights. Next time we go back we'll plan things out better ahead of time!

Santa Monica Blvd takes you straight to the Santa Monica beach and pier...

There's so much to do for one day...the night before? I'd suggest Sunset Strip

Hollywood Sign
La Brea Tar Pits
Hollywood sign
Rodeo Drive
The Getty Center - J Paul Getty museum

this might help you - I hope

I’m not sure where you are in relation to the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory but those places are fun to explore. The Chinese Theater is also interesting to see.

I’ve looked on Airbnb for experiences and had great results. You can always check that out. It’s a lot of fun to go with a local on a small group outing or activity.

I recently took a glass blowing class and went on a hike that was lead by an ex-Marine in the Valley of Fire in Vegas. It was an amazing experience and the highlight of my time there.

Have fun and ask the locals for eating suggestions.

How fun! Santa Monica is a great area, lots of shopping, restaurants and bars, and of course a beautiful beach.
I personally love Venice. You might find the actual beach seedy (and it is, and very touristy) but the neighborhoods and canals are gorgeous, and Venice has some of the best restaurants in LA, Rose Cafe and Eggslut are two that come to mind. Abbott Kinney Blvd is the hot spot for shops and food and possible movie star sightings :-)
Have fun!!!

Definitely walk down Abbot Kinney and plan on having lunch there, my favorites are the Butchers Daughter, Gjusta or Gjelina. Go see the Venice canals. Go to the Proper Hotel and have a cocktail.

Bazzar, I know it's overpriced and what not but I've always enjoyed meals there and the atmosphere. Then hit up a nice bar somewhere.
