The last two times my little girl has eaten hot dogs or McDonalds she has goteen very ill. Stomache pains and throwing up. First I attributed it to too much fat b/c we really don't eat like that too often but now I am thinking it may be an allergic reaction. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

totally, my kids totally get ill after fast food, and one daughter used to throw up only the hot dog after a meal - nasty. we do not do fast food anymore, nor hot dogs. I attribute this to their body having greater wisdom than mine! go with it!

My kids have many food allergies. Most hot dogs and the hamburger buns and the burger itself from Mcd's, have soy in them. She could have a food allergy to soy.

Possible allergies, Soy, Beef, sesame seeds? Start keeping a food journal of every ingredient and maybe you can see a pattern to figure it out.

Honestly, you were right in thinking it was the food itself. If you normally eat well, you will get a reaction from it. Our bodies weren't really made for food like that. Everytime we go when in a hurry, we all end up in the bathroom. The bread has tons of things in it that we shouldn't eat and white bread has been bleached. Most of our allergies are from our diets whether it's food allergies or not. I would have her checked to see what allergies she may have and go from there.

There are a lot of additives and chemicals in both hot dogs and fast food - she may be allergic to one of them. Thankfully, hot dogs and McDonald's are not essential to the diet so it's easy enough to avoid the problem, but you may want to have some testing done so you know which additives or chemicals to avoid in the future. You can check the hot dog package for ingredients and then check the McDonald's ingredients on their website to see if any match up.

Health food stores and even some big name grocery stores now carry more natural hot dogs with just beef, salt, and spices, no added junk. Applegate Farms is a good brand for that, and I think even Stop and Shop has "Nature's Promise" brand hot dogs now.

I think it's probably the high fat content, the additives (e.g. nitrates) or a combination. At McDonald's, there's nothing else to balance out the meal like vegetables or fruit - so it's fatty burgers, fatty nuggets, and fatty fries. Same with the hotdogs. Also the white bread in the burger and hot dog rolls has a lot of junk in it. Your daughter may have a digestive imbalance that makes it hard for her to digest it - I don't know if she eats that at home with no problem, but I raise the issue just in case.

Regarding the post about it being soy, it's not soy itself but the additives or whatever it is washed in - pure soy is nature's protein and has been eaten for 5000 years by cultures all over the world. A lot of soy products in the US are tainted by the processing methods. Before you go crazy eliminating all kinds of foods from her diet, or getting a huge amount of testing in one so little, try controlling the quality of the items she eats. I know that can be hard when you don't know the sources.

You could also consider Now for Kids nutritional supplement which will establish a healthy balance in her digestive system, give her great nutrition, and make it far less likely that she will react to those foods in the future. I can help you with more info and connections to parents whose kids benefited and no longer had "food allergies". There are very few true food allergies - these reactions are on the rise because we get far less nutrition in this country than we did 20-30-40 years ago. When we were kids, everyone ate PB sandwiches on white bread, and no one had peanut allergies, milk allergies, gluten allergies, and so on. This huge epidemic of allergies is due to changes in our nutrition, including processed foods, fewer whole grains, and fruits/vegies grown in depleted soils and picked early to be shipped for weeks on end. We are missing key elements (phytonutrients, trace elements, vitamins, minerals, etc.) and just not able to digest things the right way. Processed vitamins don't help much either as they are not absorbed more than about 25-35%. So you might want to look at a better supplement to help eliminate this problem in your daughter.

Hi T..
Try some ultimate aloe juice. Aloe heals the skin when you are burnt.......well it does the same thing to your insides. It heals the digestive system. I have some amazing testimonials on it if you are interested. My kids all have acid reflux and I have them on it. They were able to stop taking zantac. It's an amazing product. Here's a link for you to check it out but if you have any questions feel free to contact me. I will send you my number and you can call me.

My children are fine with both, but McDonalds has me running to the bathroom like it's WW2, I'm in Japan, and the bathroom's a bomb shelter, and hot dogs sometimes makes me sick. With the hotdogs, they sit in my gut for three hours until I throw them up, undigested and spoiled. But I tend to have a few rumblings from down under on occasion, so I'm gonna try the aloe.
