4 Year Old Head Pain

Hi KD,
My daughter did this, not in that exact location, but she'd do the same thing! I took her to the dr/specialist right away... He checked her out from head to toe. He said kids get migraines much more often than we know, and he called this kind "Stab and Jab". It hurts really bad, but only for a very short minute. She outgrew them, actually, she doesn't even remember getting them now that she's older! Hope that's all your son is experiencing. Good luck!

Sounds like an ear infection. It could even be fluid build up, I would have the Dr take a peak.

Take him to an ENT and have him checked. It could have something to do with the inside of his ear.

I think it could be something in the ear or maybe migraines. Have his eyes checked too. Maybe he needs glasses.

I have to agree with the others on here, it is probably an ear infection, like someone said he may have to much liquid filled in his ear, that probably why he might have sharp pain in his head and goes away.

My thought is a headache - and I've been having that kind lately. I do think it is related to sinus, possibly a sinus infection. (need to get it checked out but haven't yet...) I would check that out. ENT maybe to check both the ear and sinus?

behind his left ear really sounds like an ear problem, have you looked in or smelt his ear? I know smelling his ear sounds funny but see if it smells different then the other ear. This could indicate an infection, or it could be a build up of wax in his ear, or possibly swimmers ear. I would definitely have it checked by your Doctor if it continues. I doubt it would be a migraine or he would be complaining about other symptoms or maybe have some nausea. True Migraines are not all that common.

I have had something similar and it was related to a sinus infection. I got a stabbing pain. After laying down on the other side and taking some pseudephed it cleard. The chiropractor could help drain his sinuses. Just a thought.

What does your Pediatrician think? I would talk to them the next time you go in. My daughter has occasional migranes, but they didn't start until she was about 8, and they were really bad headaches which progressed into getting nauseaus if they are really bad.
