Dallas Affairs makes the best cakes anywhere. It's on the edge of Lakewood area in Dallas but it's worth the drive. Everything they make is beautiful. I had them make their smallest little cake just for me daughter so she could have her own cake to eat. And then I went to Walmart and had them make a big sheetcake for all the party guests. good luck.

Hi,
I have an 11 month old son -- and I recently posted like two different times advice on custom cakes. Send me your email address and I will forward several links and advice given to me to you. I, like you, wanted a special cake and ordinary wouldn't do. I have finally selected who I am using - and after much work on the internet I have made my selection. I am doing a 3-d dog as much son doesn't watch tv yet - and can't identify with a cartoon character yet.
Look forward to hearing from you -- and many best wishes to your daugher on her 1st birthday too.

J.,

Last year when my own little boy turned 1, I felt I needed to get a really expensive original cake. But I found that Walmart and Target made these really neat "cupcake" cakes and everyone at his party thought it was so neat! Not to mention, no cutting necessary, they just pulled a cupcake off and that was that. My son got his very own cake to eat and it was completely free when I purchased a cake from Walmart. Plus, if you haven't already, you should be getting a coupon in the mail from the grocery store that gives you a free cake for 1st birthdays.
