My little angel seems to be having headaches she will stop playing and grab her head but she can't tell me if it hurts. She plays games that involve touching her face and head but this to me just doesn't seem to be the same she has been doing it for about two weeks now average about every other day a few times a day sometimes less sometimes more. I don't react at all to her when she does it but she continues. She just this morning started running a low grade fever and her diper was a little runny (but that could be teething), and has had a mild runny nose. But the headache thing is bothering me and now other family members have commented that they have noticed it. Even when she is very sick she doen't slow down so she seems fine, and of course she has had her share of tumbles lately now that she wants to climb on everything but nothing that brought too much concern. Should I take her to the dr? Has anyone had a child so young have a problem like this before? It kind of scares me.
OK we just came from the doctor and her congestion had gotten worse over the last two days so the doctor thought it was that reason for the headaches but she prescribed some medicine and requested we come back if she get the headaches again and to try to start keeping a log of when there happening She also thought that it might be combined with the pressure from teething. Luckily she has a great doctor that doesn't mind how often I come in and always request I bring her in for follow ups (she gets sick often). Also for everyone concerned, she is not any clumsier than any other baby at her age. She has recently learned how to stack things and climb on top of them, but has not mastered it yet so that is the reason for the falls. Thanks everyone
I wouldnt take any chances on not taking her to the Dr.Please take her in asap,because as an adult I dont want to have a headache.I rather be safe then sorry.B. F.
Please take your daughter to the doctor. If the doctor tells you not to worry and they continue to happen take her back! Headaches are a sign that something is wrong especially in young children.
K., my 2 year old never had any noticeable eye problems until his left eye started crossing a few weeks ago. He has been diagnosed with strabismus (a crossed eye) caused by being overly farsighted. (I'm not saying your daughter has this by any means). But because nothing ever looked wrong, it never occurred to me that it might be a good idea to get his eyes checked.
If the headaches persist despite getting over the sinus issues, or you see her squinting or tilting her head to look at things, I'd take her to an optometrist or even a pediatric ophthalmologist just to be on the safe side. Surprisingly, a good doctor can diagnose vision problems in really little ones!
I can remember getting headaches as early as kindergarten and first grade but didn't get glasses until I was in college. I am nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other, so looking close up to far away caused headaches for me. It can't hurt to get her eyes checked, and if nothing is wrong, then you've at least ruled it out.

My advice is to take her to the doctor. Migraine headaches don't typically start that young. Also, if you have a video camera, maybe you can catch an episode on video and show your doctor. You know how it is, you go to the doctor and they seem fine at that moment until you leave. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I'm not trying to scare you, but in young children especially 11 months old, I wouldn't blow anything off.
I would take her to the dr. My daughter started complaining that her head hurt when she was about 2. The dr said that it wasn't normal and he couldn't see anything unusal during our office visit so he scheduled her for a cat scan. We were lucky and found out that her sinuses were severely compacted. It was easily treated but at least we knew nothing more serious was going on. She has always had allergies so we were used to the stuffiness or runny nose but when she started complaining that her head hurt and would hold her head and cry, we knew something else was going on.

For your own peace of mind, I would defintely take her in just to be sure. It could be anything and is probably nothing serious, but I say always go on the side of caution so you can go on with your day without the worry of all the what ifs.

Definitely take her to the doctor. Follow your motherly instinct ALWAYS. Her headaches could be due to a number of things such as allergies (sinus pressure) to more serious conditions. Since she isn't very verbal, you might want to teach your child baby sign language. This would help her communicate with you better. And yes, be very persistent with your pediatrician if you feel they are just giving you the brush off. If you still aren't satisfied, seek a second opinion.
I would definately get her to the doctor. It doesn't seem normal for such a young age. If she is falling more often than usual that could be a sign of something seriously wrong. Call her doctor immediately for reassurance. You never know...

Please take her to the doctor. If it is something serious it could be "fixed" immediately, but if it is not serious then you can relax and alleviate the worry. For your peace of mind is worth a trip to a doctor. I'm not trying to scare you, but personal experience myself makes me want you to go! For reasons I do not want to get into. There is always the rule I live by, better to be safe than sorry.

But please call I dont know what type of isurance you have and if its not accepted there ask them for a referral somewhere else that accepts your insurance
My oldest son has had episodes of migraines that actually led to vomiting, loose stools and SEVERE light sensitivity. It took me some time to figure out what was wrong. He had his first one when he was about 15 months old and he gets them when his sinuses are impacted. This has happened 3 times and the only way that they can determine it is through x-ray of the sinus cavity. We went through multiple courses of antibiotics prior to the x-ray all with no relief. Be your child's advocate and take her to the dr. right away. My son was miserable with the migraines. Good luck and best wishes for your little angel.
A low grade fever and mild runny nose along with headaches can be symptoms of sinus infections, so I would have her checked by the Dr.

Both of my kids (10 and 3) get headaches about once every few weeks, and so do my husband and I. I think headaches can be genetic bc both of my parents get them often. However, I think this is a little young. My oldest started getting them at about 7 yrs. old and the youngest just started at age 3, which I think is young too but they go away with tylenol and they aren't that often. Their doc says it's normal. If you get them, I wouldn't worry til you take her back to the doc and then you can just ask then. If not, maybe you should give him a call. The only thing I am basing that they could be genetic is that we have 3 generations of having them on a regular basis. If you have a bad feeling about it, have it checked out. Better safe than sorry.
