It's possible, just not guaranteed. Especially with multiples, it can be hard to get BOTH of them in the right position. But multiples develop on the same time frame as a singleton. If they're identical, you only need one baby to be in the right spot, but if they're fraternal both have to be.

I was able to find out the sex of my first at 16 weeks. Baby just has to be in the right spot and you might get lucky-twice!

I found out the sex of my first baby at 16 weeks. It was suggested by the nurse to drink oj about 30 minutes before hand...the sugar rush gets the babies moving and they are more likely to show the sonogram technician what they need to see. GL! :)

You do have so many sonograms with a twin pregnancy. It was somewhere around 14-16 weeks that I was told that Baby A "had the potential to be a boy." So I was not surprised when the 20 week sono confirmed that. I was definitely of the mind that I only wanted to know if they could be pretty certain, but i never had any opportunity for a heads-up with Baby B. She never revealed any clues to her identity until near the end of the Level 2 sono.
I wish you all the best for your twin pregnancy and afterwards. Surround yourself with positive people and positive accounts of twin pregnancy. It is possible not to be put on bedrest, but I had to force myself to lay down whenever I wasn't working. Listen to your body.
You also do survive the crazy newborn days - but get help - It is actually kind of nice to have someone else there to keep you company during the midnight wakings. Less isolating.
My twins are now 26 months old and such a huge blessing in my life! Their big sister prayed the other day, "Thank you God for giving me twins!" That's how I feel.

We found out twin B was a girl at my 16w appt. The perinatal doctor was taking a look and she told us and was right. Twin A was in legs crossed position but we found out she was also a girl the next week (week 17). I was asking about genders since my 8w appt :) They kept telling me 16 weeks was the earliest they would feel confident to tell. So hopefully you will get to know!

Hi
Sometimes they can never tell. At least that is what they told me when I asked about my twins. Baby B was a girls but since they were fraternal, and because of Baby A's position we never knew she too was a girl. They are now almost 20 yrs, but thanks for allowing me to recall that grand time.
God bless you and let us know what is happening.

Hi there, its definitely possible. I found out the sex of my twins at 16 weeks. It really depends on ur doctor. I have friends that had singletons & their doctor wouldn't tell them until they were about 26 weeks.

All babies look the same (kind of like boys) early in pregnancy. 16 weeks is kind of a risky time- may or may not be right depending on how correct your dating is and how good the ultrasound person is. Probably though you will have more ultrasounds later so there is no harm in taking a peek as long as you don't start painting things pink or blue:) Personally I wouldn't trust what I was told at 16 weeks but it I would be tempted to try to take a peek. Congrats on the pregnancy!

I would think yes, but I've had my ultrasounds closer to 20 weeks. I know someone who was told 'it's a boy' and then out came their daughter. So there still could be a chance it could be too early. Maybe you can reschedule for 2 weeks later or you'll have another ultrasound later on. Also, as long as the technician is experienced. With my second I found out and asked 'are you sure' and she said yes, pointing out the umbilical cord and my son (plus he was in the perfect position letting the whole world know).

Yes, it is possible to tell this early but ultrasounds are not 100% accurate (only a CVS test or amnio is) so my OBGYn said to not try to get a refund from him if it turns out the twins are a different sex..
