10 Year Old Cat Meows Excessively

My 10 year old kitty meows all of the time now. She is fixed and declawed (now I know how declawing is done I won't do that again).
It all started excessively after she got outside for a few hours one night. My husband burnt something and opened the doors to air it out. Two hours later he went outside doing something else and she was sitting on the porch stairs. He was surprised because he didn't noticed and she meowed loudly like he saved her life.
Since then she meow to the point where it is annoying. When doors are closed or even cracked open. She acts like she can't open them. You call her and she meows. I have been giving her more one on one attention and holding her close which seems to calm her down for awhile. Though it always starts again later. It also seems to me that she walks gingerly. The symptoms don't match up with cat arthritis. Any ideas?
Thanks moms!

So What Happened?

We went to her vet and had her checked out. Physically she is perfectly fine. No pain and nothing abnormal.
He did notice her pupils were slightly different sizes, but it didn't seem to be affecting her. As far as her meowing all of the time he thinks it is behavioural. He prescribed her a low dose of Prozac to see if that helps. It's been a few weeks. She still meows, but not as incessantly. So far so good! Thanks for your advice and concern!

Please take her to the vet right away. It could be any number of things, including a UTI. She could be in pain. Ten isn't very old and she's trying to get your attention! Please keep us posted.

I would talk to the vet to see if any senility may be a problem. She may also be going deaf or have another health problem, since you say she walks gingerly. Perhaps an xray is in order, especially if she is not usually an outdoor kitty and got out.

She definitely has something going on. To suddenly become like this, and is only really calmed with cuddles... I'm thinking she may be in pain somehow. Especially if she is walking gingerly.

I agree with taking her to the vet. Poor baby.

I know nothing about cats. But when our dog started randomly barking we blew it off as getting old, seeing spots or shadows; we didn't see it as serious. Our vet happens to live across the street from us. When I randomly mentioned it to her, she had us make an appointment. She said when older
animals start making noises out of the ordinary, it can be a sign that they are in pain. After getting additional arthritis treatments, the barking stopped.

she may just be traumatized (they're naturally more nervous when they're declawed), but she may have gotten injured while she was out. i would definitely take her to the vet.
