Yummy Fish Recipes??

Ok, I haven't posted anything in months and now I am going "post crazy"! I HATE fish! HATE! However, my husband loves all kinds of seafood and I would like to introduce it to my two year old. Also, I do a lot of cooking with ground beef and I would like to make our diet healthier. The only time I tried fish that I liked was Mahi Mahi at bonefish grill with their mango salsa. I was wondering if any of you have great recipes with mild tasting fish. My husband is not a big salmon fan, but he likes everything else. Is it possible to turn me around??
Really, my hate for it comes from a bad childhood experience. So, I do think it is mostly psychilogical, I really haven't given it a chance. Even if I don't like it, I need help with recipes so I can cook it for them. When it comes to how to cook fish, I am a "fish out of water". Yeah, sorry about that!

What can I do next?

I found a winner! I will try your recipes too, but wanted to let you know what worked for me! Fresh Tilapia brushed with olive oil, pepper and garlic salt. Baked in a "foil pocket" in the oven with fresh lemon slices on top. Served with rice and homemade mango salsa. It was fantastic, I ate all of mine and my son like it too! I'm very happy, so now I will move on to more of your ideas, thanks!

Go to Publix and get some Tilapia (very mild) from the fish case and on the wrapper, they use a large piece of sticky tape with a recipe typed on it. They use different recipes for all fish. Also, in the frozen department where the fish is, also there are recipes on packaging. I have had lots of success with the Publix recipes. Try there Aprons free recipe cards too for ideas!

Important!! Get a good, clean, white, fresh piece of cod! It might be a little expensive, but it can be worth the price if you get a positive experience out of it.

Mix one cup salsa (mild)
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp dijon mustard

Pour over cod and put in oven until it flakes easily...really good and not very 'fishy'.

I think the recepie is called 'sweet mustard fish'. You can probably find in on the internet!

I find great recipes at Epicurious.com I usually search on Sea Bass (a very mild great tasting fish) and sort the results by fork rating. Your bound to find something the whole family will love.

Me and my husband are not big fish eaters either but we do eat Tilapia. It is a very mild fish. What i use is butter, fresh lime, seasoning salt (Nature Seasoning is my favorite!),shallots and of course olive oil. And i just cook it all in a nonstick pan for about 3-5 minutes on each side depending on the size of the fish. Until it flakes with a fork. Oh and just in case you did not know lemon or lime takes the fishy taste out of the fish. My 1 and a half year old LOVES it. Maybe this will work for you as well! Good Luck! :)

I have a great recipe (and easy) for baked chilean sea bass (really YUMMY tasting fish and very mild no fishy taste at all). Get boneless fillets from grocery or seafood store. Just put them in your oven on bake at 350 degrees and watch them after 10 minutes... don't overcook them and you'll know it when they turn light brown all over. No more than 15-20 minutes. Also, you can put a little butter on top to keep them moist. I always serve mine with a fresh fruit salsa that is basically just chopped tomatoes, chopped fresh cilantro, chopped red onion and fresh fruit like pineapple, mandarin oranges, mango or anything else you like! Keep the salsa cool or room temperature and serve with good fresh veggies and wild rice or risotta and a salad... heathly and YUMMY. Your tot will no doubt love the fish if you don't give him the impression that there's any reason not to!

Enjoy!

I don't know a recipe off hand, but my FAVORITE site for recipes is SPARKRECIPES.COM You can search through TONS of recipes and they include all the nutritional info.

Hello M.,
I have a Indian recipe for you. Mix a tsp of chilli powder, salt as needed, 1 tsb of oil and lemon juice each. Marinate the fish for 1/2 hour in the refrigerator and grill it or cook it over the pan with some oil. Tilapia goes well for this recipe. The thicker the fish fillet the longer the marination time. Hope you enjoy.
