Hi! I am currently an 8th grade science teacher and am finding that I am overwhelmed and am working about 12 hours a day on my job and spending less time with my family. I taught in another school district for 13 years and have never even considered quitting the progession. I still would like to bring in some income so that we can save for our children's futures, but I want to be with them more often and feel that my mind isn't on work. I am desperate to find a way to work at home while my children are napping so that we can still afford part time preschool for my toddler who needs the social interaction, but be there for them to make sure they are getting what they need. Any suggestions would be great!
There are many moms who need to get away a few hours each day and looking for dependable people to watch their child. Maybe you can offer to babysit for friends or family or have them refer you to someone they know is looking for a little help. That way you can pick and choose times and still make a little bit of money.
I am a stay at home mom, but I too wanted to feel like I was contributing to our finances. My biggest contribution has been that I get to raise my kids and not daycare. Have you ever thought about selling things on ebay? I am not sure the type of income you are looking to make. I am a stay at home mom of 3 girls and I just recently started selling things on ebay. I know that some people do this as a business, I am only selling things around the house. Clothing that my girls have outgrown and it has been pretty profitable for me. I use my down time when my little one is sleeping, or night after they have gone to bed to set up my auctions and it works out pretty well for me.
