i was "diagnosed" with preterm at 32 wks and put on bedrest. I was having contractions I couldn't feel, and had a positive fetal fibronectin test. Went on bedrest and trebutyline, and deliveredat 36 1/2 wks after 3 days off meds. Wondering if there are more of you that had repeat bedrests with other pregnancies, or are there alot that did not?

What can I do next?

With my first child I did not go into labor early but was put on bed rest for a few weeks because of bleeding and went a week early, with my second child I went into early labor they stoped it and I went back to work for the rest of my pregnency and had to be induced. I dont think its a thing where if it happend once it will happen again its just chance and the factors around you and your baby unless its a medical condition but your doctor should be able to tell you that and the chances of it happening again.

I assume this is this your first baby? Were your physcians able to determine the cause of the preterm labor and birth? This is important information to try and find out.
I was on and off modified bedrest with my first daughter who was born at 33 weeks, bedrest for 1 1/2 months before having my 2nd daughter at 35 weeks (I changed doctors after my 1st, long story). I was on modified bedrest for a short period of time with my son, who was born at 37 weeks. I was also had a weekly injection of a type of progesterone with my last two pregnacies. I went 2 weeks longer each time! You should look up a doctor, Paul Meis, MD. He has alot of info on preterm labor and it's treatments. Good luck!

I had complications with my first pregnancy and had different ones with my consecutive ones. Every pregnancy (and L&D) is different. Just try to enjoy it, it's such a wonderful time in your life.

I had preterm with all of my children. I have 4...I was in the hospital with all of them to stop the labor, but the last two I went into full fledge labor with no pain until it was too late to stop it. My two youngest were both 2 months early (31 weeks and 33 weeks)My two older were both delivered at 36-37 weeks. My 15 month old was 4lbs. 2oz and my 2 month old was 4lbs. 110z. They were both healthy and came home after some observation.

I had repeat preterm labor, but have a medical condition that causes it. My uterus has a wall down it, making 2 sides and giving the baby a small space to grow. When baby gets bigger, I go into labor. I have had babies at 23, 26, 34, 36, and 37 weeks (only 3 survived), plus had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. I was on bed rest with all of them and on meds. Do you know why you had preterm labor?

Congratulations on making it to 36 1/2 weeks! I went on bedrest (although not meds) with my first one at 32 weeks also. My water broke at 36 1/2 weeks. With my second one I started having contractions at 19 weeks. I continued to have contractions throughout my pregnancy, but it never turned into full blown preterm labor. By this time I knew which activities and situations triggered the contractions and I was able to monitor myself pretty carefully. I wasn't put on bed rest, but I was on a reduced work schedule. I had some scary moments and close calls, but we made it to 38 weeks the second time around! The last five weeks were very uncomfortable because my baby had already "engaged" into my pelvis and I walked around 2 cm dialated for a month. Your doctor will know to monitor you carefully next time around and you will be considered higher risk, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't go full term with another child. Good luck!
