Wondering About Periods During Early Pregnancy...

I am not yet trying to conceive, in fact I am actually kind of trying not to. (Not being very good about it though.) My cycles have been very random since I've been off the pill (3 mths), and this last period was only 2-3 days-they are usually about 6. I am INSANELY tired, have the dropsies, have been moody, and very sensitive to smells and noise. All things that I had during my first pregnancy. I keep thinking, "If I didn't know better, I'd swear I was pregnant!" We've used condoms and other not so reliable methods, but never full out made an oops!, so I'm sure I'm not, but wondering if anyone has experience with period like bleeding in early preg., or who's gotten pregnant with condoms put on later in the act, or etc.....I know I know! Just take a test! They are so expensive and not so reliable! Just curious......

What can I do next?

By the way...wasn't pregnant, but wish I was! The hubby is still undecided. I'll hope for the oops til then....thanks!

I'm 14 weeks pregnant after using the late condom method!

If you have a Family Dollar store close by, grab one from there. I bought a more pricing one after taking 2 positives from the dollar store!

Hey B.,

I actually did experience a "period" during early pregnancy. It was very light and I was super excited when it only lasted 2 days, compared to my normal 6-7 (YaY for me! Light and pain free!). Then 3.5 weeks later I took the test and it came back positive. As it turned out, that period-not-so-period that I was sooo joyous about happened when I was about 4 weeks pregnant. So yeah, even though they are expensive, do it! Get tested!

You can definitely get pregnant from using condoms only later in act as you put it due to premature ejaculation Since you said that you have been irregular since going off the pill wait until you haven't gotten your period for 6 weeks from your last and then do a home test. Just don't panic, if you worry about it you could cause it not to come. Good luck.

Walmart has a $4 test and my OB said they are VERY reliable. She actually didn't do another test when I went in to she her. I also had a friend get pregnant while she had the depo shot and was using condoms. Remember, those methods are only 99% accurate at preventing pregnancy, less if you've been lacking in that area. It only takes once.

I also, like others who've responded, had a light period right before I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd. It just happened that I was in the Dr.'s office a few days afer that short, spotting-like period, and when I told the nurses, they immediately asked if I could be pregnant. They did the bloodwork and I was. So it is definately possible that you are pregnant, especially if you're having other symptoms. I didn't know about the dollar store tests, but sounds like that is a way to go to check and see if your pregnant or not. Good Luck & Best wishes!

My last two were conceived with condoms put on later in the act. Like my husbands says we liked to play in the rain a bit before putting on the raincoat. So if you don't want to get pregnant put on the raincoat a bit earlier :)

the light bleeding could be the egg implanting....sounds like you are reading your body right and are pregnant!

The dollar store in Burnsville (Dollar Tree) that is were I got my pregnancy tests with my last one and he is 1yr. So I would think that they still have them. So there you go you can spend a dollar on one. I have not had that in any of my four pregnancies. I hope that will help you!

You can get a test at most Dollar stores. I bought them at the Dollar Tree both times I was pregnant. Just as accurate as the test the doctor gives. Good luck.

Get thee to a Dollar Tree ASAP! Depending on where the store is located, you'll find them in the healthcare items aisle, or you might have to ask for them at the checkout counter.

I also had a small amount of bleeding with both of my pregnancies, right around the time I would have expected my period. It's different for everyone, but if I had any doubt, I'd take a test just for peace of mind.

Hi B.-

Definitely sounds like it'd be worth taking a test to me.

I just recently found out that I was 17 weeks pregnant...I was having my period for all but the last cycle of that 17 week time frame. Went into the doctor's office thinking I was about 7 weeks pregnant only to discover I was already into my 2nd trimester! My period was a day or two shorter than usual, but otherwise all seemed normal in that regard.

A friend told me that they sell pregnancy tests at the Dollar Store for about a dollar. Same test as they charge $20.00 for at the drug store. I only heard about this after buying the expensive drugstore test, so can't say that this is for sure, but worth a try...

Good luck!!

With my first pregnancy, I had what the docs think was implantation bleeding, then some spotting every four weeks for the first three months. It was almost like my regular cycle was trying to "break through" despite being pregnant. I bled much less with my second, but still occasionally. My mother had the same thing with all her pregnancies. In other words, it's possible you're pregnant. I agree with the others; maybe find an inexpensive test and take it when you expect your next period.

B., I know this is not going to be of any help but I got pregant while using an IUD so pregnancy happens even when you least expect it. I know that is not what you wanted to hear but I just had to share. Have a great day and don't dispare if you are indeed prgnant. God know's shat is best.

Buy a test at the dollar store. They are very reliable and more sensative then some of the more expensive tests. Good Luck:)
