I delivered at Morton Plant and like everyone else who responded, had a wonderful experience! I also took advantage of some of their childbirth and baby preparation classes. My husband and I went to the "Prepared Childbirth" class and I also sent him to "Daddy Bootcamp." By the way - he thought Daddy Bootcamp was great and a very valuable experience. It's all dads and the ones that lead the class bring their real live babies. My husband got to change a real baby's diaper and get some real life tips from other dads...I think he was more prepared than me!

I LOVED them!!! Awesome hospital and thier lactaion consultants are life savers. It's been 3.5 years and I still remember her name. Pam. The food was good, the care was good. I had no complaints. They let me stay out of the bed as long as I wanted. I sat on the birthing ball up until I decided to go with an epideral. Whished I would have waited a little longer. I had my baby an hour later. They provide many prep classes and have prenatal and postnal yoga classes, breast feeding moms groups. It's one of the highest rated hospitals for deliver in the US. With that all said, I had my second child at For the Love of Birth in Dunedin. I thought it couldn't get better than Morton Plant, but they surpased them and my regular OB. If you are looking for a natural birth this is the place I would reccomend. They know your name there, they hold long conversations with you and really care about you and your family. I would never go back to a hospital again, but if I had too it would be Morton Plant. GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS!

I had my first at Morton Plant in Clearwater in October of 2006. She is already 8 months old. It sure went by fast. I am so glad I chose to have my daughter at that hospital. The nurses were so helpful, and I had a very easy labor. When you go in request the laboring suite, If no one else is in it its yours. I got to have it. Its bigger and more comfortable, and has a little area where your family can sit. I think it might cost a little extra, but not much and it was definitely worth it. Also, if you plan on having an epidural, they let you get it when you want, the sooner the better, I barely felt a thing! Good luck and Congrats.

I delivered all 3 of my kids there (8 yrs, 6 yrs, and 20 mo) as did my aunt and almost everyone I know -- and we are in St. Pete near 62nd Ave N. Worth the drive!!

My first 2 were v**. delivery and the 3rd was emergency c-sec. I would never go anywhere else and would never advise anyone else to go anywhere other than Morton Plant. I've heard some horror stories about SP General and Bayfront, but NEVER about Morton Plant.

I loved the staff. They totally respected my husband's culture and helped in any way they could. The nurses were kind and helpful. Everyone was patient and awesome!!

I never like hospital food, no matter what hospital. But, my husband would bring something up from the cafeteria from time to time.

With my c-sec., they were so good to me and helpful with pain control and with lactation and with caring for my son when I was in too much discomfort to.

The lady taking the hospital photos was SOOOO great, too. It was a miniature studio set up on our floor with tons of props and background draping.

Best of luck to you!!

First of all i want to say congrats on the new arrival.
I delivered at Morton plant in clearwater 6 years ago and i LOVED the place, The staff and great. I had a very quick delivery and the staff never left my side. They are very quick to respond. My daughter had jaundice before we were supposed we were discharged and they ended up keeping her for another day. I told them that i didnt want to leave her and they said that if i wanted to stay i could, So they let me stay in the room that i had and even though i was already discharged, the nurses still checked up on me. Morton Plant is the best.

Hi M.,

As a doula I can tell you I LOVE doing deliveries at MP Clwtr. The nurses work very well with us and all rooms have bath tubs...GREAT for laboring. They even have a water birth room. You would need to be with one of the few groups who do water births for that, but it's a great option.

I loved Morton Plant and plan on delivering there again when I have another baby. The birthing rooms are really nice and the staff is great! Plus, if you ask for the "suite" (there is only one so it's first come, first serve, but totally free!) you can have a room with it's own private waiting room for family and friends! That way, they don't have to wait downstairs. I lucked out on my post-delivery room and got a room overlooking the water. And I agree, the lactation consultants are wonderful and SO helpful. The only part I didn't like was the food. It took forever to get to us, and it tasted terrible. So my husband ending up going out and getting all of our meals. But a wonderful experience all around. And they have a FANTASTIC pregnancy yoga and mommy and me yoga class which I really recommend. Great way to meet other moms and bond with your baby at the same time! Good luck!

I have delivered all 3 of my kids there, I really liked the staff each time. The last of my kids was born 3 1/2 years ago and the rooms were really nice, I am sure in that 3 years they have probably done more renovations to make it even nicer.
My sister will be delivering there also, at the end of Sept.

Hello, M.. I delivered three of my four kids at Morton Plant. It was a great experience. I would highly recommand that hospital to every woman giving birth. The nurses make the experience as comfortable as possible. The nurses also make sure that you, baby and all that are involved in the blessed day are aware of what to expect. I give the hospital 2 thumbs up! Congrats!!!!

I delivered at Morton Plant and was really happy there. The nurses were great. My first night, I was finally hungry after a c-section. I had to start off with liquids and the nurse found me some broth and heated that up for me. My 2 1/2 year old daughter didn't want to leave and they also offered to bring up a small bed for her so she could stay. They were great there.

I delivered there 2 yrs ago and it was AWESOME! Everyone was so great and it was really nice having the suite. The only thing that was awful was the food, but that's to be expected:) Good luck and I'm sure that you will love it too!
