Which diaper brand has forgiving cut in the thigh and wont leak

Hi. I've been using Pampers Swaddlers with my 10 wk old baby girl. She's not a big baby (only 11 pounds), but the diaper seems to be too tight around her legs. They leave her with red elastic marks and I imagine they have to be uncomfortable. I tried going up to size 2's, but they are too big in the waist and still too tight in the leg. I don't want to start randomly trying different brands so I thought I'd ask if anyone else has had this experience? Is there a diaper with a more forgiving cut in the thigh that wont leak?

What can I do next?

Summary

Since not all diapers are the same size even though they all say size 1 or 2, you might have to try a few different brands to see which one fits your child best. Some moms found that Huggies Newborn size were slightly bigger than Pampers Swaddlers Newborn. But then in size 1, the reverse was true: Pampers were bigger and the Huggies were smaller! I have found that every diaper leaks once in a while, especially if it is not put on correctly. Some moms likes the generic brands from Costco, Sam's Club and babies r us as well. And some suggest cloth diaper as you can adjust the sizes.

I used the swaddlers with my son and loved them, but they didn't fit my daughter as well, for her I used the huggies supreme. they seem a bit better cut around the legs.

Re diaper fit- try the generic brands- they don't have as many gathers around the thighs. I used CVS' brand for both of my daughters- they worked well.

Hi P.,

I was never a fan of the pampers swaddlers. I actually liked the Babies R Us brand diapers best - they are called Especially for Baby and can be purchased at Babies R Us or Toys are Us.

My son is now 16 months and we absolutely LOVED the Pampers Swaddlers and were sad when he grew larger than their sizes allowed for. He was a big baby and still is and I know we never had an issue with the leg fit. They are so soft for a newborn.

We also use the Pampers Baby Dry and Cruisers, I would try those.

Im sorry you are having this dilemma.

I have used about every diaper there is....brand name and store brand. I tried the swaddlers on my daughter as well and did not like the fit. I have found the regular basic Pampers to be the best and for store brand, Target. Not sure where you live, but Rite Aid Brand at that age is not bad, it is soft and not restrictive. I used them for a few months at that age.

Good Luck!

look at the weight of the diapers when looking at the sizes. i would try a different brand also. you need to get the ones that are expandable in the legs. try looking at huggies and see some of the features. i had good luck with those when my son was your daughter's age. good luck.

Out of all of the diapers that I buy...The ones that I think work the best are from Whole Foods. They are just a generic store brand. They have no chemicals, no inks, no funny odors. They are just a plain white old fashioned diaper. I have not had a problem with the elastic. They runn about 10.99 a bag. I buy them for our infant as well as our toddler.

We have a 10 month old and although did not have a problem with tightness at the thigh did have to experiment with many brands due to ill fitting in the thighs ano leaks depending on age. We have settled on membersmark from sams club---she is now 10 months. They seem to be pretty roomy in the thighs but not so much that they leak.

We also had good luck with target, luvs and some pampers. We just bought small quantities of each one to try and it seems everyone I know has had to experiment b/c every baby is proportioned different.

The members mark to me were the most roomy in the thigh. You might want to get the larger size to try first b/c I have gotten away with them on my daughter when she was technically to small for them. I don't know is sams club could hook you up with a few sample sizes or even the other companies before buying. I did have a sample of luvs at one point from somewhere. Maybe worth checking. Good luck!

Try huggies. They didnt work for my son for the opposite reason - fit arount the waist but the leg holes were too big, whereas pampers fit him perfectly. Might work for you :)
