Where to Buy Large Container of Cinnamon?

I didn't see it listed...

I buy all my spices at an Indian spice store.

5lb bag of ground cinnamon (in my pantry) was $6 according to the tag.
Couple hundred cinamon sticks (about the size of a pumpkin) was $4

I've yet to spend more than $5 per pound at the market, and often as little as $1-$3 per pound. Giant bags of bay leaves, cups/pints/gallons of spices. All for just a few bucks. When I had to entirely reoutfit my spice cupboard I spent $80 (on over 60 spices and herbs). 5 years ago. SCREW $6 for a teensy little 2-5oz!!! Or even "bulk" stores that have them at $20 per pound.

((HA! Another wicked savings. 30 cents to 1buck each, instead of stores that charge you $40 for 10 or 12. hahahahahaha!))

Sealed against air, moisture, and light... they keep my spices and herbs fresh for years and years.

Costco, Sams, the bulk sections of target or walmart, or a restaraunt supply company.

Some grocery store managers will special order something for you. Stores have access to large institutional size packages of some items, and if speak to the manager or person in charge of ordering, they might be able to get you the size you want.

Or check if you have any stores with a bulk food aisle.

Costco has it. You can do a trial one day join I think. Just bring cash.

It's only $2.90 for a pound of cinnamon powder (they have it in other forms as well).

Check at Krogers Grocery store if you have one in your area....I work at a Dillons Store which is part of the Kroger Family and we carry the bigger containers of a lot of the standard spices...I know that Cinnamon is one of them.

I think Sam's has it like that--in BIG containers.

Here on the west coast I've purchased it at Costco and Smart and Final (discount grocer that is also a wharehouse style store but no membership required). Sorry for the long description, my thought was you might have something of the sort there with a different name.

I'm surprised you couldn't find it at your local store. I bought it at mine a year ago to make those same ornaments! I bought two of the biggest ones they had (which were 8oz each) and I only needed one. I was able to make like 45 small ornaments from it. I would check Wal Mart or something if you don't have a Costco membership I bet you can find and if not now, probably closer to the holidays when people bake more.

I get big containers of cinnamon at Winn-Dixie.

Try food storage businesses. Here is a link to a company I have ordered stuff from and have been very very happy with each item.

Another place/venue to try is restaurant supply stores. They often buy stuff in huge volume.

Costco or Sam's.
If you don't have a card, see if someone you know does.
Or go to the store and see if they can let you in as a one time guest?

I second the indian/middle eastern food store. Spices are always really great and cheap.

GFS (Gordon Food Service) has large containers. Not sure if they have 2 cups in them, but at least 1 1/2 cups, and they don't do memberships. It's just a regular store.
