What Would Motivate Your Child...

I'm not sure if you are looking for an awards program that would be individual-based or classroom based. This would also depend on the age groups of the students, too. What works for the younger, won't work for older ones.

I know my children have always enjoyed friendly competition between classrooms. The promise of winning a food-type party, pizza party, ice cream, popcorn party is always fun. Or...even combining classrooms for the team effort - if you reach this quota, all of you will have x-prize (movie and popcorn, party in the Gym, homeroom time becomes recess time outside...etc...)... For a smaller group (definitely less than ten) Depending on how much they LIKE their Principal and how many kids would lunch at one time, would depend on whether they would think it was a treat to have lunch with them! Also... if, by chance you would KNOW a local celebrity (i.e. Baseball player, football player, disc jockey, author, even Jim Nesci's reptile show, ...etc... ) someone who may WOW the kids for the chance to meet! This could be a motivating factor for a group effort!

Not sure how much money you have to spend - older kids like "homework" passes and the school may work with you on that. Bigger monetary prizes are: I-Tunes gift cards, Best-Buy, Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins, Game Stop, Target, or a local fast food place of your choice,

I am not sure how big your group is, If it is just for one classroom you could do top sales for 1 boy & 1 girl. If it involves lets say 3 classrooms of 2nd graders then do a pizza party for the classroom with the highest sales.

The only one my son has done rewarded them with a toy for each "level" they achieved. He really wanted a particular toy, so he tried to get to that level of sales. It was selling papergoods to raise money for his preschool.

When I was in high school, I organized a clothing drive with the class who donated the most stuff getting a sheet cake and party supplies for an in-class party. I remember that being a big hit.

a pizza party for the class that sells the most. that was a huge motivator at my daughters school and its pretty cheap.

My school has done things like a special lunch with the principal, annoucer on the intercome for the day, class with most sold gets ice cream, prize alotments such being able to pick out a book from scholastic, gift certificate to culvers,etc. I must say the school does a themoeter for each classroom for lables each month and the kids get extremely competive so their class can get pizza. Of coarse they like to get their names annouced. Now with Girl Scouts my daughter has to get the highest level of selling patch. She is very proud to wear it to show she helped her troop the best she could otherwise she feels she could have done better. She knows the money pays for all outings, supplies, and helps her favorite camp. She also knows it helps to pay for other girls that can get money from council for their uniforms. That makes her feel good. I hope I helped.
