We recently switched from breast feeding to formula feeding (we actually are mixing frozen breast milk and formula until I run out of breast milk) our 4 1/2 month old. We thought we were supposed to use distilled water and then read this article about how distilled water can be harmful and is not really for drinking http://chetday.com/distilledwater.htm . We then switched to spring or drinking water for mixing the formula. What are we supposed to be doing? We had this same question when we switched our son but I don't remember the answer. I am completely heart broken to no longer be nursing but have just started medication that I don't feel good about feeding her. thanks for the help

What can I do next?

We used tap water. Although you don't have to, I boiled mine. Every night, I'd make the next day's bottles, and I found that by boiling the water, the powder dissoved better. WE had a lot less clumps when I boiled it.

We use bottled water since our water doesn't taste very good to us either.

When mine were babies and switched to formula, we got the Ozarka water delivery service.

I am a dental hygienist and I would recommend water straight from your faucet or bottled water that contains fluoride. It's good for their teeth that are forming.

My ped recommended tap water, but I don't care for the taste of our tap water. I have been using Nursery purified water that has added Fluoride. You can buy 1 gallon jugs of it at Target or Walmart for a little over $1.00. At Walmart it is located with the other bottled water and at Target it is located with the baby food and formula.

We used Nursery purified water with the floride in it. We also used regular bottled water like Ozarka.

We use the water from our fridge, which is filtered. I too was told to use this, as it floridated, plus according to things I have read, is better regulated than a lot of bottled water.
