What Should I Wear?

My husband surprised me last night. He purchased two tickets to the Celine Dion concert. She is my favorite singer!!! This is an early Christmas gift for me. I was asking my husband his opinion on what I should wear because I have never been to a concert like this before. He said if it was up to him he would like for me to wear the outfit that I bought for our Christmas party at his work since we are now not going. The Christmas party is on the same night as the concert. He loves this outfit on me. However he did say "But you should wear what you feel comfortable in, what makes you feel good inside." The outfit is this shirt in purple (Go to www.Kohls.com and in the search box type "Axcess Charmeuse Knot Blouse") and black slacks. I still have the tags on the blouse so it isn't a problem to return it. I just feel that this might be too dressy for a concert. I know some of you are thinking "Wear what you want to wear, it doesn't matter what others think." But, I am one of those people that don't want to be too underdressed or too overdressed plus I care too much about what others think sometimes. This night is such a big deal to me and I just want everything to be right. We don't get to go out together too much because of our schedules so I just want this night to be perfect!

Has anybody been to a concert like this? What do ladies wear? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

My family dresses up for a night out about once every 2 years - sometimes we attend the Nutcracker or another opera/concert event. Sometimes we agree to dress down - other times we go all out wearing floor length formals (even though we sit in the nosebleeds due to cost...) it is a BLAST to get dressed up even if no one else is - it makes the night so special - GO FOR IT!!!

Cute top. That may be a little dressy for a concert if you wear it with black slacks. But I would wear the shirt with a nice pair of dark jeans. That would still be cute and go with the top, but it wouldn't be too dressy for the occasion. As long as they are nice dark jeans, you could still wear some cute heels with it too.

We saw andrea bocelli last xmas and most people treated it like going to theatre. I saw one person in jeans and she was way underdressed (not even sexy jeans...just blah). For this you can snaz it up a bit...

Wow! That's so sweet ~ and Exciting!
I agree with Kristin, you say this is a big night for you, and you and hubby don't get out much so live it up! If you are dressed nicer than some/most you'll feel much better than if you underdressed. I couldn't use the link for the blouse, but if hubby likes it and it makes you feel good for a night on the town then GO FOR IT!
And Have Fun!!

As you thought, my first response is to tell you to wear whatever you want- it's your night with your husband. My second response is to say I love that top and think it would be perfect for the event (I went and looked at it online.) I always enjoy getting dressed up and going out with my husband. We went to the Lion King together a few years back and had a wonderful evening! Have fun!

It's always been my opinion that you wear something that shows respect for the host or principle person. For exampleI will always wear a suit to a wedding or funeral. Since Ms. Dion is your favorite singer, wouldn't you want to show your appreciation and respect? And since this is a rare night out for you and your husband, wouldn't you want to show your appreciation and respect to him by wearing something he'd like to see you in? Assuming it's not physically painful to wear, of course.

I say go dressed to the nines and to heck with anyone else. This night's about you and your husband.

I saw the blouse you were talking about online and think it is beautiful, especially paired with a pair of black pants. A very nice outfit. I think that would be ok, but still, you should wear what makes you feel comfortable. Of course, this is coming from someone who really dressed up to go to the Broadway Palm the very first time (can you tell that I am not originally from AZ?).

That should be perfectly appropriate for a Celine Dion concert because she will likely draw a more mature crowd and they wll likely be well dressed.

First, let me say that I'm sooooooooo jealous!! I LOVE Celine Dion and you are so lucky!! My hubby surprised me with Police tickets year before last on my birthday - isn't it a wonderful feeling???
For a concert like this, I think you'll want to dress up a bit. Not too much - but just a little more formal than say, an Eagles concert. I just looked at the Kohl's site and I think that top with black pants would be just perfect! Great choice!
Again, I'm so jealous!! I hope you have a GREAT time!! You'll have to let me know how it was!

Hi J.,
A friend once told me if you are not sure what you should wear it is always better to dress up than to dress down. I would rather be the best dressed person there rather than just OK.

The outfit you describe sounds perfect! have someone take pictures ! I know what you mean about not being sure what to wear...back when we went to concerts as teens, it was jeans and rock t-shirts! I am 41 and would wear what you describe to go see such a classy lady as Celine. I have her on my Ipod and enjoy her so much. Have a blast and in the future, don't doubt yourself. At a concert, there are zillions of people wearing a vast array of outfits, some of which you'll be horrified to see! We went to see Santana at Cricket and I wore "dressy" jeans and a halter. It depends
on the venue too. Have a blast!!!

My sister goes to a lot of concerts and is going to Celine Dion too. She usually wears a cute shirt, jeans, and heals. It sounds like you might be a little bit dressier than most, but I say wear your outfit and feel pretty and festive!

My husband and I saw Celine in concert in Las Vegas, and I know that there was a wide variety of clothing. Some women were very dressed-up (sequins, etc) and others less formally in dress slacks and blouse or a nice dress or skirt. No matter, you'll blend in and be fine. Enjoy the show!!

I am under the impression that Celine Dion concerts are a little more "high class" than most. I would have suggested a cocktail dress or nice slacks and a pretty blouse. Will you be going to dinner first? If you are overdressed when you get there, just feel special. You will be the one to make other people feel underdressed at a nice function.

Have fun!! What a sweet husband.

You can NEVER be too overdressed. I would wear your new outfit, provided it is comfortable. I guarantee you will not be the only one looking your best!

I looked to see where Celine is performing, and now I see your dilemma! Your outfit is perfect for a Celine Dion concert in a concert hall, but you feel funny wearing it at a sports arena.

Well, the other ladies are right when they say that you will see all kinds of outfits at the concert, so I would wear the outfit you describe because your husband thinks you look great in it. Having your husband think you look great will go a long way to making the evening perfect!

I agree, better to be overdressed than underdressed. I have never been to a Celine Deion concert, but I believe they are a lot nicer than most. I would definatly go with the outfit your husband wants you to wear, as long as you feel comfortable in it. Depending on your seats, you may be standing a lot. So comfort is a must! Enjoy your night out with your hubby!!!

Oh Ms. J. you and I have a lot of common personality traits..I can tell.LOL =) First off..the shirt is just gorgeous and fitted with a classy tone..and it has that look that you could go either way..Celine Dion/Stevie Nicks/Yenni(sp?) all would be appropriate attire with this blouse. You can have your accent pieces glam it up or tone it down if you wanted to. silver or metal type would be perfect IMHO..you can go with shimmer, glitter, body paint j/k LOL..Now some will say "where what you are comfortable in" and to them I would reply "You would not want me to go out in public with the outfit that I feel comfortable in." LOL LOL So if you are like me- if its absorbs your heat & makes you sweaty or scartchy or the vacuum sealed tight fitting fit you may feel..you will put up with it for the sake of the great night with the right outfit and suck it up. As soon as I walk in the door..I grab the scrunchy and ball my long hair up in a beehive/mushroom look on top of my head and away from my face & neck and this is comfortable..but would not be caught dead with this hair doo anywhere..lol
Celine Dion concerts are classy casual..not shorts and a tank or birkenstock shoes. If you wanted options..you could go with a cocktail ? dress..not mini skirt but modest above the the knee length. Shoes.... if you plan on standing or having to(depending on how far away from the main stage/wide screen your seats you will be to see her) keep this in mind..maybe no one would notice you kicking the 5inch heels aside while you massage your ache in thee feet..lol..go with a flat or a wide thick clog type heel (cork are an ease)are good too.. message me if you would like any more help for your "all about you" evening planned. Good luck. =)

Hi J.,
The one person who will be looking at YOU during the concert will be your sweetheart (and maybe some jealous guys).

Wear what makes you feel sexy/pretty, and your husband will be ready to rush you home after ;o

Have fun!!

Honestly you will see people wearing semi formal all the way to jeans and tennis shoes...If you like yourself in the outfit you have (and your husband obviously does) I would wear it and then buy some pretty pajamas for later:)

I think that if you like the outfit, and you are comfertable in it, then wear it. I think that would be perfect... with black slacks and a cute pair of high heals. I think that since it would be like a date night, that it would allow you to feel special and to look specail too. Have him dress up a little to, or match a little. She is a classy lady, so you should feel classy too!
